unpopular opinion: pilates💖

this is my contribution to the unpopular opinion challenge. i have seen a lot of things on social media saying that pilates is not effective for weight loss, and i have had a completely different experience! i have been doing it for the last few months, mostly independent, and i have had great results. it is, of course, paired with calorie deficit. i have noticed significant toning in my muscles and i have become a lot more slim. i see many people saying that it has to be paired with cardio or higher weightlifting, but honestly, just Pilates has been more effective for me then when I was focusing on cardio and higher weights. what has your experience been?

I believe the key here is your nutrition. As with any fitness program, your nutrition has to be in top shape as well or you’re doing your body a disservice.

Pilates Pros & Cons 👍🏻👎🏻
Hi friends!! I’ve been doing Pilates for a little over 4 months now. Just some background on myself: I played volleyball, basketball, and softball for 15 years, including at the collegiate level. Pilates has been a new way for me to stay active, along with weightlifting and playing in rec leagues.

WHY I LIKE PILATES MORE THAN STRENGTH TRAINING
I often get asked why do I like to do Pilates more than other workouts. My answer is that I always hated cardio and I was afraid heavy weight lifting would make me too bulky. Pilates is a high impact and low intensity workout. Pilates strengthens your core which causes that “toned” look.
