Surving while grieving

#storytime #lemon8contest

On May 1, 2020 during Covid I lost the first man to ever love me....My Dad, to Dementia. As his care giver, I struggled not only with his illness but also with the relapse of the love of my life. My love was the second man in my life to ever love me for who I am as a person. And on May 2, 2021 just one year later I lost him to side effects of his addiction. In a world of grief I found the darkness and I was so angry, and suicidal. Everyday was my last day and everyday my eyes opened to a new sunshine. Being a survivor while grieving is not about "getting over it". Its about living in the dark while still being able to see the light. #storytime #lemon8contest

... Read moreGrief is a deeply personal journey that many people experience, often in silence. The author reflects on their challenges after losing two important figures in their life: their father due to dementia, and their partner due to addiction complications. Each loss brings a unique form of heartbreak and confusion, often compounded by feelings of anger and despair. However, resilience can emerge from such experiences. Seeking support through grief counseling or support groups can be instrumental in navigating this period. Connecting with others who have faced similar losses helps to share the burden, making the healing process a little easier. Moreover, understanding that grief has no timeline is crucial; every individual's healing journey is different. Techniques such as journaling, meditation, or engaging in creative outlets can also aid in processing feelings and finding moments of peace. The act of honoring lost loved ones through memory-sharing rituals or personal tributes can also facilitate a smoother passage through grief, transforming pain into a celebration of life. Know that it’s okay to lean on friends or professionals for support and to take the time you need to process your emotions. You're not alone on this journey.

Grieving the loss of someone who’s still alive
Losing someone important to you due to their own choices can be one of the most difficult experiences any human could endure. The sheer part of letting go is the hardest. Why would you let go of someone that’s still there? Doesn’t that show YOU’VE given up? Or maybe you agree to the choice as well?
