i don’t gain anything from this game of chicken except the satisfaction of making impatient people wait

8/2 Edited to

... Read moreIn my experience with driving and especially in heavy traffic situations, I've found myself participating in this subtle "game of chicken" where the goal is not to gain anything tangible but the quiet satisfaction that comes from making impatient drivers wait. It’s like a small act of rebellion against the rush culture we live in, where many believe the world should stop for their every move. This behavior often stems from a sense that "people in cars lowkey think the world revolves around them," which I've seen play out countless times. Some drivers try to force their way through, honking or flashing lights, expecting others to yield immediately. But by refusing to budge first and holding my ground calmly, I feel I’m reminding them—and myself—that patience can be a quiet but powerful tool. Engaging in this game isn’t about being rude or aggressive; rather, it’s a personal exercise in maintaining composure and encouraging others to reconsider their attitude behind the wheel. It makes me reflect on how often impatience can heighten stress and even create dangerous situations. Taking control of that moment by simply waiting can bring a surprising sense of peace and control. Moreover, this experience has made me more empathetic towards those who often find themselves stuck in traffic or rushed situations. It’s a reminder that we all share the road and that patience and respect can turn a frustrating moment into a shared human experience. This game teaches me to appreciate the slowing-down moments even amid the daily chaos and challenges the common notion that urgent demands deserve immediate action. So, while I don’t gain anything material from this game of chicken other than the satisfaction of making impatient people wait, it has enriched my perspective on driving and life. Patience is indeed a virtue that earns quiet victories every day.
