Are you ready for a relationship?💭

being in a relationship can be so beautiful, or it can be so dangerous and ugly.

to be able to put your energy into someone else is not something to be taken lightly. Asking yourself simple, personal questions can make you feel more prepared or give you a sense of what you need to focus your energy on. If you have enough to be with someone else or if you need to just focus on you.

Deciding to be with somebody because it’s the holidays and because you’re lonely isn’t a good reason to be in a relationship. You are risking someone else’s time and your own if you really don’t care about who you are with or aren’t ready. Fill in your own holes bb don’t make someone temporarily do it for you 🌙

Trying something new because it is important or interesting to your partner is an important thing for the relationship and can make it stronger. You never know if it’ll be a new hobby of yours too! That’s what happened to me and now I am healthier and stronger because of it. Having a partner who is willing to take the time to try your hobby is also a GREEN flag ✅

Do not be the type of person who will cut off your best friends for a man/woman if it isn’t necessary. If they have always had your best interests in mind and have proven that you are the RED flag if you cut them out. However, set boundaries with your friends and if they respect you they will give you grace for not being around as much.

Ask yourself these questions to prepare you for a relationship with someone else or to further your relationship with yourself✨

... Read moreIt’s amazing how much we grow and learn about ourselves when we start thinking about what truly makes a relationship work. Beyond just finding someone special, building strong 'bases in a relationship' is absolutely crucial for long-term happiness and stability. I’ve realized that a lot of what makes a relationship beautiful stems from the work we do on ourselves first. One of the biggest 'bases' I've personally discovered is self-sufficiency and emotional readiness. Just like the article mentions, 'you aren't looking for a hole to fill' when you’re truly ready. This means understanding your own needs, passions, and finding joy independently. It's about bringing your whole, complete self into a partnership, rather than expecting someone else to complete you. When you’re emotionally stable and content on your own, you can offer a much stronger foundation to a partner. Asking yourself, 'How to know when you are ready for a relationship?' often starts with assessing your own emotional toolkit. Can you handle disagreements maturely? Do you know what you want and need from a partner, and are you able to communicate that? Another vital base is openness and adaptability. I totally relate to the idea that 'You are open to try new things / try someone else's. Even if it's not your thing.' This isn't just about hobbies; it extends to embracing new perspectives, being flexible with plans, and being willing to step outside your comfort zone for shared experiences. It shows a partner that you value their world and are invested in building a life together that includes both your interests. It’s a huge green flag when both partners are willing to explore each other's worlds. Then there’s the often-overlooked base of maintaining your existing support system. The article wisely points out how important it is to be 'unwilling to cut off good friends who want the best for you & have proven that.' Your friends are your rock, your sounding board, and a crucial part of your individual identity. A healthy relationship enhances your life, it doesn't shrink it. Setting boundaries is one thing, but completely isolating yourself from trusted friends is a red flag that can weaken your personal foundation, and by extension, your relationship. Strong personal bonds outside of your romantic partnership actually contribute to a more secure and balanced romantic connection. Finally, clear and honest communication and mutual respect form the bedrock of any successful partnership. These aren't just buzzwords; they are daily practices. This means actively listening, expressing your feelings without blame, and respecting your partner's boundaries and opinions, even when they differ from your own. These fundamental elements allow trust to flourish and provide a safe space for both individuals to thrive. By focusing on these core 'bases in a relationship' – self-awareness, openness, maintaining friendships, and strong communication – you're not just preparing for a relationship; you're building a fulfilling life that can seamlessly welcome a loving partnership. It’s a journey of self-discovery that ultimately strengthens every relationship you have.
