Does Narcissism🎭 Change the Way some “men” Forms Relationships? 🤔

This post raises an interesting perspective about narcissism and emotional connection. While many survivors of narcissistic abuse describe feeling used, emotionally neglected, or valued only for what they could provide, it’s important to remember that experiences can vary from person to person.

One common theme reported by survivors is that some people with strong narcissistic traits may appear deeply invested in relationships that benefit them while struggling to build genuine emotional intimacy. That can leave partners feeling unseen, unheard, and emotionally isolated.

Healing begins when we recognize unhealthy relationship patterns, establish healthy boundaries, and choose connections built on mutual respect, empathy, honesty, and care.

💭 What are your thoughts? Have you noticed similar patterns, or has your Experience ✨ been different? Let’s have a respectful conversation in the comments.

... Read moreFrom my personal observations and experiences, narcissism can profoundly affect the way some men engage in relationships, often in ways that are not immediately obvious. Many exhibit what could be described as a homoromantic orientation, where their genuine emotional and social connections are stronger with male friends than with female partners. This creates a dynamic where women may feel used solely for physical intimacy, domestic support, and caregiving roles, rather than being valued as partners with equal emotional needs. I have noticed that these men often maintain a lively, humorous, and loyal persona around their male friends, expressing traits like patience and warmth that are absent in their relationships with women. This split emotional engagement leaves women feeling invisible and emotionally isolated, despite cohabiting and sharing daily responsibilities. What stands out is the tendency of such men to minimize the emotional demands from their female partners, perceiving vulnerability or requests for care as burdensome. However, they are fully capable of deep bonding and companionship—but they reserve this for their social circles with men. This behavior can lead to significant strain and disillusionment in relationships, with partners questioning their own worth and the authenticity of their connection. Healing from such patterns begins by recognizing these imbalances, setting firm boundaries, and seeking relationships grounded in mutual empathy and respect. It also involves reassessing what emotional intimacy means and ensuring it is a two-way street where both partners feel seen and cared for. Awareness and honest communication are crucial in breaking cycles of emotional neglect linked to narcissistic traits. For those navigating relationships impacted by narcissism, sharing experiences and strategies for healing can be empowering. It helps survivors feel heard and supports the journey toward healthier, more fulfilling connections. If you’ve encountered similar dynamics or have insights to share, engaging in open and respectful discussion can provide valuable perspectives and foster community support.

I could really use some outside perspective because I'm struggling to make sense of this. There's a man I wanted to reconnect with. I had extensive surgery in May which I told him about it. Toward the end of June, he asked if I was coming to see him. I told him my options were August or October because July wasn't possible for me due to my recovery. At first, he said he was glad I answered him. Then he brought up the fact that I never came to see him when he lived in Tennessee for two years, and now he's been in Alabama for a year. After that, he started saying he was around a lot of "bad B's," mentioned he had been drinking, and said he texted me because I was on his mind. Then the conversation took a turn. He told me he "couldn't wait for a habitual bullshitter" because I hadn't come to see him. He ended things by saying he loved me, enjoyed our time together, but that I would be unreachable to him because he was cutting off contact for the foreseeable future. I'm hurt and confused. I was recovering from major surgery, and I had already explained why I couldn't travel in July. I honestly thought he cared and would understand. What are your thoughts? Am I missing something, or does this seem unfair? How would you interpret his words and actions?

A narcissist isn’t going to wake up one day and decide to be different. Personality is stable—meaning it doesn’t just change because you cried harder, loved deeper, or forgave one more time. Their patterns are wired into who they are. You can’t love someone out of narcissism any more than you can

A person's hand with a silver bracelet rests on their white-clad leg, against a dark background. The text overlay reads: 'HOW I REALIZED I WAS DATING Narcissist'.

Can a narcissist change their ways🤔
They didn’t love you. They used you. Narcissists don’t bond — they consume. People become functions. Value gets measured by usefulness, not connection. When you stop serving a purpose, you’re discarded without grief, without reflection. Replaced coldly. Efficiently. If you survived one, hea
