🎬 BREATHING IN — THIS MOVIE HAD ME CONFUSED AND CONVICTED 😂
Whoever directed Breathing In was DEFINITELY a heavy fan of Edgar Allan Poe. 😂 Because this movie wasn’t just telling a story—it was trying to make me uncomfortable, spiritually unsettled, and probably question my life choices. 🤣
I honestly can’t believe I missed this when it first came out. Then again, I saw it was categorized as a Drama and immediately said, “Yeah… I’ll pass.” 🤦🏾♂️😂
BIG MISTAKE.
This movie is slow-paced, drawn-out, creepy, and strange. It takes its sweet time revealing what’s really happening, and at certain points I was sitting there like:
“Okay Lord… am I supposed to understand this, or are we just watching?” 😐🤣
Set during the Anglo-Boer War, it follows a wounded general who takes shelter in an isolated home where nothing—and I mean NOTHING—is quite right. The atmosphere gets darker, the relationships get weirder, and eventually you realize this ain’t your grandma’s Sunday afternoon drama. 😂
And honestly, somewhere underneath all that symbolism and psychological horror, the movie basically felt like it was saying:
“MEN AIN’T 💩.” 😭😂
From a Biblical perspective, it reminded me that when people operate outside God’s wisdom, unchecked desire, pride, manipulation, and sin can take us into some VERY dark places. Proverbs stays trying to warn us, but apparently some folks needed a whole horror movie. 😂📖
Was it good? Yeah.
Was it for everybody? Absolutely not.
Did I understand everything? Let’s just say I received the movie by faith. 😂🙏🏾
7/10 — but baby, that 10 required discernment. 🤣
