I wanted to share some ideas I am thinking about doing for my daughter’s 1st birthday in a few months! I came across all these ideas and pictures from Pinterest.
I’m so indecisive and wish I could do all of them bc they are all so cute!
... Read moreAfter brainstorming all those adorable themes, my mind immediately went to the practical side of things – especially the photoshoot and what *I* would wear! It's such a special milestone, and I really want to capture those memories beautifully.
For a 'mom dress for baby's first birthday,' I've been looking for something comfortable yet elegant. My top tip is to choose a dress that complements the party's color scheme without being too matchy-matchy. If we go with the 'Berry Sweet Birthday' theme, a light pink, cream, or even a subtle red flowy dress would be perfect. I'm thinking about breathable fabrics like linen or soft cotton because chasing a busy one-year-old means comfort is key! Also, consider how it will look in photos – soft pastels or florals always photograph beautifully. I'm definitely leaning towards something that allows me to easily pick her up for cuddles and cake smash photos without feeling restricted.
Now, let's talk about the 'Berry Sweet Birthday' photoshoot ideas! This theme is just too cute for words, and there are so many ways to make it memorable. For props, I'm imagining a little picnic blanket, a basket filled with faux strawberries, and maybe even a cute little wooden crate for her to sit in. For baby's outfit, a romper with a strawberry print or a little white dress with a red bow would be adorable. For locations, an outdoor setting like a park or even a backyard with some natural light would be ideal to capture that fresh, summery vibe. If shooting indoors, a simple white backdrop with some strawberry garland could work wonders. I've seen some lovely ideas on Pinterest where babies are surrounded by a 'berry' balloon arch – so creative! And don't forget the cake smash portion! A small, 'berry' themed smash cake with whipped cream frosting (less messy than buttercream!) would be perfect. Capturing those messy, joyful moments is what it's all about. I'm also thinking about some photos of her interacting with real strawberries – those expressions would be priceless!
Beyond the 'Berry Sweet' theme, I'm also thinking about how to make the other themes shine in photos. For a Fairy First Birthday, imagine a shoot in a garden with soft lighting, incorporating little wings for the baby, and maybe some flower crowns. The OCR mentioned 'mushrooms, butterflies, lanterns' – these would be fantastic photo props! For a Happy 1st Bee Day photoshoot, yellow and black striped outfits, a little beehive prop, and maybe some yellow balloons would create a cheerful atmosphere. The 'My 1st Bee-day' cake topper would be a must-have for the smash cake photos. And for the Groovy One theme, vibrant colors, tie-dye accents, and maybe some daisy props would bring out that fun, retro feel. The 'Groovy Goodies' sign could even be used as a backdrop!
Overall, my biggest takeaway for any first birthday photoshoot is to keep it relaxed and fun. Babies at this age have short attention spans, so having everything ready and working quickly is key. And remember, the most precious photos are often the candid ones, capturing their genuine smiles, curious gazes, and even those adorable little cries. I can't wait to see how these ideas come to life for my little one's special day!
