Starting a passion project 🤍

hello soul explorers 🤍

If you're new here, I'm Celestine.

I started Soulful because I know what it's like to feel lost while still functioning. To be doing all the right things, yet somehow feel disconnected from yourself.

Soulful is a self-discovery project where I create gentle experiences that help people reconnect with themselves through reflection, creativity, and meaningful conversations.

-----

🌱 This month's Soul Notes theme is:

The Desire to Shrink

The part of us that learned to stay quiet, take up less space, hide our needs, or become who others wanted us to be. This first edition is a collection of personal stories, reflections, journaling prompts, and creative activities designed to help you understand why you shrink — and how to slowly return to yourself.

The very first Soul Notes launches on 5 July at Idea Fest @ SCAPE with Fireplace 🤍

I'll be sharing more behind-the-scenes as I create it, so come along for the journey.

Follow the ig @/soulful_singapore for more info!

... Read moreStarting a passion project like Soulful can be a powerful tool for self-exploration and healing. From personal experience, I’ve found that many people feel pressured to shrink—to hide their true selves and conform to others’ expectations—in order to fit in or avoid conflict. This experience is common but often leads to feelings of disconnection and loneliness, even when surrounded by others. What’s beautiful about projects focused on self-discovery, like Soulful’s theme "The Desire to Shrink," is that they encourage us to reflect deeply on why we suppress parts of ourselves and provide supportive activities like journaling prompts and creative expressions to gently guide us back to authenticity. I remember when I first started reflecting on my own experiences of shrinking; I realized that the urge to be silent and small was linked to a fear of rejection and not belonging. But through consistent reflection and creative outlets, I started to reclaim my space and voice. It wasn’t an overnight change—it was a gradual process of recognizing the moments I felt compelled to shrink and consciously choosing to expand instead. The community and conversations with others on similar journeys provide invaluable encouragement and understanding. If you resonate with the feeling of shrinking or hiding, know that it’s okay to start small and proceed gently. Taking time to journal about your experiences, joining creative workshops, or connecting with a community focused on healing and growth can ease the process. Most importantly, this journey is about embracing who you truly are, without apology. Being different is not just normal; it’s a vital part of finding the right people who appreciate and support you for your genuine self. This path leads to greater happiness and meaningful connections that align with your core values. I encourage anyone feeling this way to explore projects like Soulful, follow along for updates, or even start your own passion project as a space for vulnerability and growth. It’s a brave and beautiful step towards living more fully and authentically.
