Estonia for 7 Days: One of Europe’s Underrated Trips for Americans 🇪🇪

If you’re looking for a European vacation with medieval cities, beautiful nature and a potentially lower daily budget than many Western European destinations, put Estonia on your travel list.

For a 7-day Estonia trip from the U.S., here’s the starting budget from this guide:

* ✈️ Round-trip flight: $650–$1,000

* 🏨 7 nights accommodation: $240–$450

* 🍽️ Food & drinks: $100–$180

* 🎟️ Activities & attractions: $50–$110

* 🚋 Local transportation: $30–$60

* 🛍️ Shopping & extras: $40–$90

* 💰 Estimated 7-day total: starting from $1,110–$1,890 per person

7-Day Estonia Itinerary

Day 1: Tallinn Old Town

Day 2: Tallinn museums + Telliskivi Creative City

Day 3: Lahemaa National Park

Day 4: Tartu

Day 5: Pärnu or Viljandi

Day 6: Seaplane Harbour + Kalamaja

Day 7: Tallinn + final sightseeing

Ways to Save in Estonia

Use public transportation, compare guesthouses and apartments with traditional hotels, eat at local markets and casual restaurants, enjoy Estonia’s parks and outdoor attractions, and consider traveling outside the peak summer period.

Estonia uses the euro (€), making it convenient if you’re combining it with other euro-area destinations. Your final cost can vary significantly depending on your U.S. departure airport, travel dates, accommodations, activities and dining choices, so treat these prices as starting planning estimates rather than fixed costs.

Save this Estonia budget guide for your Europe trip planning. Would you visit Tallinn, Tartu or Estonia’s countryside first?

... Read moreHaving traveled in Estonia myself for a week, I can attest to how affordable and rewarding this Baltic gem is, especially for Americans seeking a unique European experience without the high prices of Western Europe. One of my favorite aspects was the mix of medieval charm and modern culture, especially in Tallinn’s Old Town and the creative vibe at Telliskivi. I found that using public transportation like buses and trams was both convenient and inexpensive, helping me stick to a reasonable daily budget. The local markets and casual eateries offer delicious traditional Estonian dishes such as black bread, smoked fish, and kama, which are not only tasty but budget-friendly alternatives to pricier restaurants. Exploring Lahemaa National Park was a highlight, providing ample opportunities for hiking amidst pristine nature and visiting quaint villages. It’s a great way to enjoy free or low-cost outdoor activities. Additionally, places like the Seaplane Harbour museum in Tallinn and the university town of Tartu offer engaging cultural experiences without breaking the bank. To save even more, I booked flights a few months in advance and traveled during the shoulder season in May, when the weather was still mild but crowds were thinner. Staying in guesthouses and apartments rather than hotels also helped balance comfort with cost. Overall, Estonia offers a perfect blend of history, nature, and modern charm, making it one of Europe's underrated destinations for budget-conscious travelers. If you’re planning your European trip, be sure to add Estonia to your list for a memorable and affordable adventure.
