ART MYTHS pt.1 ✨

🎨You have to go to art school to be a successful artist

FACT: Going to art school can have many benefits and advantages like learning new skills and techniques, building community and learning how to be disciplined in your craft but you certainly do not need to attend a college let alone a pristine art school to be a successful artist. Many successful artists that we know today never attended school and are actually self-taught, artist like Frida and Basquiat!

... Read moreThe belief that one must attend art school to become a successful artist is a common misconception. While formal education can provide valuable skills and networking opportunities, it is not the only route to artistic achievement. Many renowned artists, including Frida Kahlo and Jean-Michel Basquiat, thrived without a traditional art school background, relying instead on self-directed study and personal experiences. Self-taught artists often bring unique perspectives and fresh creativity that academic training cannot replicate. The art world values originality and personal expression, and achieving success in this field is determined by passion, dedication, and an understanding of one’s own artistic voice. Moreover, today's digital age offers countless resources for aspiring artists, from online tutorials and workshops to social media platforms that allow them to showcase their work globally. Engaging with art communities, both online and offline, helps build essential skills and confidence, regardless of formal training. Ultimately, success in art is not solely defined by educational credentials; it's about the commitment to grow, experiment, and create. By challenging traditional narratives around art education, individuals can carve their own unique paths toward artistic success.
