Instant Locs, Lasting Connection 🤍

Her concern was simple: “My hair is fine and short.” My response? “I got something for you.” 🤍

For this client, I used instant locking, securing her locs with a 0.5 mm crochet needle. This creates a loc foundation without starting with comb coils, two-strand twists, or braids. Moving forward, she’ll be able to maintain them with palm rolling and traditional retwists.

As professionals, having different techniques allows us to meet each client’s needs.

But this appointment became more than a hair lesson. We instantly clicked, and during our conversation, I learned she was a cancer survivor.

These past three years have been some of my most trying, with cancer affecting people closest to me. I feel like God keeps placing survivors in my chair, reminding me that my work has a purpose beyond what you see.

If I can help someone feel even a little better about themselves, I’m grateful to do it.

Afterward, she asked for a hug. I said, “Absolutely,” and hugged her tight. Sometimes what looks like a small service means so much more to the person receiving it. 🤍
