5 ways anxiety shows up physically

6/28 Edited to

... Read moreAnxiety often affects us not just emotionally but physically, which can sometimes make it difficult to recognize the root cause of certain symptoms. From personal experience, I found that my chronic jaw clenching went unnoticed until it started causing persistent headaches and discomfort. Similarly, I used to bite my nails almost unconsciously during stressful moments without realizing it was anxiety showing up physically. Feeling exhausted even after a long night’s sleep is another common symptom. This fatigue isn’t just from lack of rest but often due to the body's reaction to ongoing stress and anxiety. At times, my heart would race after minor triggers—like a sudden noise or a stressful conversation—making me feel on edge for hours. Digestive issues such as stomach aches or discomfort often correlate with anxiety as well. I’ve noticed that when overwhelmed, my stomach would hurt in a way that no medication could fix because it was linked to my emotional state. Recognizing these physical signs is crucial for addressing anxiety holistically. Apps like Venty, which help explore the connection between mind and body, can be supportive tools. They guide you through understanding how emotional distress translates into physical symptoms and offer practical ways to manage them. Learning to listen to your body and acknowledging these signals has been a key part of managing my anxiety more effectively and improving my overall mental health.
