CAFES TO VISIT IN IPOH ☕️🇲🇾

1. JLN THEATRE CAFE

Food& drinks: this was one of our last stop and by the time we alrdy had countless coffee.but nonetheless it was still good. Sad that we couldn’t try the food cos it looks really good.

Toilet is clean as well, recommend to go!

2. KOMMONS

Located at a hotel, so environment was v nice, clean. They have very interesting coffee, and iirc most of the coffee nodes are more towards the floral fruity kind.

Toilet wise is not too bad, it’s the hotel toilet :)

3. SHAKE & BAKE

The food is really good, very spacious as well! And they are also a bakery, one corner of their cafe are bread n cakes! Worth going !!

Toilet wise, it was okay untill I saw a bunch of insects on the wall 🫣

4. HILLRISE COFFEE

ooo love the food here !!! Was v nice to eat all these western food after eating so many local food. A good change to cleanse the taste buds.

The pasta was v good must get the pizza!

Toilet is clean as well, decent

5. ÉTRE

We ordered for take out over here, but their fancier is really super good!!! Worth to buy it as a gift for friends back home.

Didn’t went toilet here so unsure abt the condition of it hahaha.

6. BUKIT MERAH WOOD PRODUCTS

Very unique concept is a must go, food wise is v local kind of food! And also do take a lot photos.

Toilet is very unique, and decently clean. But this whole area may have a lot insects do put on ur insects repellent.

7. MAGICAL BEANS CAFE

Didn’t try much of their food sadly, but used their toilet cos of a crisis n results of eating too much on the trip. And I like that it’s away from the main seating area, really clean n v big.

other than the cafes I really love eating all the taugue Ayam n chee chong fan n soya milk!

... Read moreDuring my cafe hopping in Ipoh, I found that each cafe offers a distinct charm and specialty that makes it worth exploring. For instance, Jin Theatre Cafe impressed me not only with its great coffee but also with its impeccably clean and comfy environment, perfect for relaxing after a long walk. At Kommons, nestled in a hotel, the floral and fruity coffee offerings stood out, creating a refreshing change from the usual bold roasts. Plus, being in a hotel meant the surroundings and facilities were well-maintained. If you love pastries, Shake & Bake is a must-try; they have a delightful bakery corner with fresh breads and cakes. Though I noticed some insects there, the spacious seating made up for it. Hillrise Coffee was a welcome break with its tasty western food—especially the pasta and pizza—which were a nice palate cleanser after sampling local dishes. For gifting or takeout, Être's fancy pastries, especially their croissants, are worth picking up. Bukit Merah Wood Products combines local heritage with great local foods and unique wood-themed decor. Just do take insect repellent if you plan to explore the area! Lastly, Magical Beans Cafe provided a quiet spot with a clean and spacious restroom, ideal for a peaceful coffee break away from the crowd. And don’t miss trying local favorites like taugue ayam, chee chong fan, and soya milk for a true Ipoh foodie experience. Altogether, Ipoh’s cafes cater to every coffee lover and foodie’s cravings with unique flavors, cozy ambiances, and interesting culinary twists.
