This was, for me, arguably the most depressing mission arc in the entire GTA franchise. The moment Big Smoke reveals his true colors felt like a punch to the gut. Here was CJ, returning home to help his family and Grove Street, only to be betrayed by those he considered brothers. That sense of loss and disillusionment was incredibly powerful and made for a truly sad experience. Even minor details, like the mystery surrounding Leonora Johnson in GTA 5, add layers of darkness to the game's world. While these games are known for their open-world fun, it's these profound narrative moments that elevate them beyond just simple action titles, making them some of the best games on PS5 and other platforms, even years after their release. As we look forward to what GTA 6 might bring, I can only hope for more of these deeply emotional and impactful storylines.
