The glow recipe watermelon glow PHA + BHA pore-tight toner came in 1st place on the ultimate combo skin hype list - for a reason! 🫣
I really wanted to love this product because everyone was raving about it at one point.
But for my combo skin - I don't see the hype 🥲
It makes my skin feel sticky & it doesn't absorb quickly into my skin. every time I try to use it my skin breaks out. I don't see any less oils & my pores look the same. I am a big fragrance girly but for some reason I can't get passed the artificial watermelon scent. that would be great in a body mist, lotion, body scrub, etc - but not on my face. I like my skincare products to have a clean, fresh scent or no scent.
I've gone through a few samples sizes & I have never loved it enough to purchase the full size.
I'll save my money on this one.
No shade, if it works for you then it works for you! the products look so cute when y'all bedazzle them. 🥹
For my combo skin, I honestly prefer a milky toner! the one from thayers is my holy grail. 🥛❤️

... Read moreHaving tried the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner myself, I understand the mixed feelings expressed in this review. Being someone with combination skin, I was initially drawn to this product due to its popularity and its key ingredients targeting pores and skin texture. However, my experience closely aligns with the concerns about stickiness and slow absorption.
The toner’s texture felt heavier than expected, which can be uncomfortable especially in warmer climates or under makeup. The artificial watermelon scent, while initially pleasant, became overwhelming after repeated use, which made me hesitant to include it consistently in my routine. The PHA and BHA components are great exfoliants, but in my case, I didn’t notice a significant improvement in excess oil control or pore appearance, sometimes even experiencing minor breakouts likely due to the formulation’s interaction with my sensitive zones.
I found switching to a milky toner formulation, like those from Thayers, provided a better balance for my combination skin—hydrating without feeling greasy and with a much lighter scent profile that felt more suitable for daily use.
What this experience taught me is that while some products can be hyped and work well for many, skincare is incredibly personal. Understanding your skin’s unique needs and how ingredients interact with your complexion is crucial. If you’re considering the Watermelon Glow toner, testing a sample first might save you time and money. And remember, a product’s packaging or hype should never outweigh how it actually feels and performs on your skin in real life.
I’d love to hear if others with combo skin have had positive results with this toner or if you’ve found alternatives that work better for managing oily and dry areas simultaneously. Sharing our honest experiences helps create a more informed skincare community where we can find what truly suits us best.
