Trying Houston coffee spots
First on my list is Cariño Coffee by Houston Avenue. I tried their café de olla shaken espresso the flavors are good but the reason for my 7/10 rating is that all the flavors were not enhanced like the coffee, cinnamon, syrup, and milk. 🍂
The muffin is so delicious. Would definitely come back just for the muffin. I will come back to try a fall drink and definitely want to try their matcha. Seen that they had a Fruit Loops matcha and a strawberry one. 🍵
Any suggestions for good coffee in Houston, Tx?
Exploring Houston’s coffee spots can be a delightful adventure, especially when you focus on unique drinks and seasonal flavors. Cariño Coffee stands out with its creative fall menu, including pumpkin-spiced latte, pumpkin cream chai, and the intriguing café de olla shaken espresso. While the espresso had a balanced flavor, I noticed the cinnamon, syrup, and milk didn’t quite pop as much as I hoped, which could be a hit-or-miss depending on your palate. One highlight that truly impressed me was their blueberry muffin—rich, moist, and perfectly sweet. It’s definitely worth a return visit just for this pastry alone. If you’re like me and enjoy trying various matcha blends, Cariño’s Fruit Loops matcha and strawberry matcha are inventive twists that add a playful vibe to traditional tea drinks. For those venturing out in Houston, I recommend seeking out coffee shops that emphasize housemade syrups and seasonal specialties. Many local spots feature creative concoctions like salted maple lattes, cardamom orange syrup drinks, and hibiscus teas, all of which provide refreshing alternatives to your standard coffee order. Also, don’t miss out on cold brews and shaken espresso variations—they offer a refreshing pick-me-up, especially on warmer days. When trying new coffee places, I find it helpful to check their breakfast and pastry options, as they often complement the drink menu perfectly. From breakfast tacos to croissants and empanadas, pairing your coffee with a well-crafted snack enhances the overall experience. If you’re visiting Houston or are a local coffee enthusiast, exploring spots like Cariño Coffee and others with a focus on seasonal menus and creative syrups can deepen your appreciation for the city’s coffee culture. Don’t hesitate to share your favorite finds or ask locals for recommendations, as Houston’s coffee scene is rich with hidden gems.
