Things I loved to do In Malaga, Spain!

If you're planning a trip to Malaga, one spot you absolutely can't miss is the Plaza de la Constitución, often referred to simply as Plaza Mayor by locals. This bustling square truly feels like the heart of the city! When I visited, I loved just sitting at one of the cafes, sipping on a Tinto de Verano, and people-watching. It's surrounded by beautiful historic buildings, and the atmosphere, especially in the evening, is just magical. It's a fantastic starting point for any exploration, whether you're heading to the nearby shopping streets or seeking out more architectural wonders. Speaking of shopping, the area around the Plaza Mayor is a treasure trove! While my original trip included a Zara splurge, I also discovered so many unique local boutiques tucked away in the narrow, bustling streets branching off the main square. You can find everything from handmade leather goods to charming Spanish ceramics. It’s perfect for picking up souvenirs that feel truly authentic, not just your typical tourist trinkets. Don't be afraid to wander off the main promenade; that's where I found some of my best buys and the prettiest hidden courtyards. For those romantic evenings, building on my gelato date night experience, I have to say, Malaga’s evening ambiance is something else. After dinner, grab some delicious gelato – there are so many fantastic artisanal heladerías around. My favorite was a pistachio and dark chocolate swirl, enjoyed while walking along the waterfront or finding a quiet spot with a panoramic city view. The city lights reflecting on the port create such a serene background, making it the perfect end to any day. If you're looking to elevate the experience, some rooftop bars near the Cathedral offer incredible nighttime vistas where you can enjoy a drink along with your sweet treat, really taking in that stunning Malaga city view I saw from the floral dress vantage point. Beyond what I initially shared, another incredible Malaga activity to consider is visiting the Atarazanas Market. It's housed in a stunning 19th-century building with a beautiful stained-glass window, and it's a feast for the senses! You can find fresh produce, seafood, and local delicacies. It’s a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture and grab some fresh ingredients for a picnic or just sample some Spanish tapas right there at the market stalls. It truly gives you a feel for Malaga's vibrant everyday life, much like exploring those historic narrow streets and marveling at every historic building downtown.
