Apps I use as a YouTuber

Canva: thumbnails, intros, and outros

OBS: live streams

IMovie: videos

I use these 3 apps pretty much every single day. I use Canva for editing pictures and videos for all my social media, but it feels essential as a YouTuber. Thumbnails are extremely important for getting people to click on your videos. I can easily edit my thumbnails from my IPad or phone.

OBS is a ride or die for my live streams. I really like the layout and I wouldn’t have a cat cam without it. There’s a bit of a learning curve when learning how to use streaming software. This was the easiest for me to get used to.

Another app that I found more intuitive than its competitors was IMovie. Although it doesn’t have everything that others might have, it is so simple to use. It makes the tedious process of editing a lot quicker and it’s the ideal beginner editor.

All of these apps have free versions!

... Read moreBuilding on my experience, I wanted to dive deeper into how these apps can truly transform your content creation journey, especially if you're just starting out or looking to streamline your workflow. Let's talk more about Canva, especially for those creating on the go. If you're wondering about the 'Canva app icon Android' or how to best utilize it on your phone or tablet, it's incredibly user-friendly. Once you've downloaded the official app, you'll find it packed with 'templates' perfect for YouTube thumbnails, channel art, intros, and outros. I often use its 'background remover' feature directly on my iPad to quickly create eye-catching designs without needing a desktop. Don't underestimate the power of a great thumbnail – it's often the first impression your video makes! Exploring the various 'templates' and 'photo effects' can seriously elevate your visual game without needing advanced design skills. I also love that you can easily create custom logos and branding elements right within the app, ensuring a consistent look for your channel. Now, for live streamers, OBS is a game-changer. While there's a slight learning curve, as I mentioned, it's definitely worth it. For new 'YouTuber's diving into live content, OBS allows robust 'audio/video capture' and 'screen recording,' which is fantastic for tutorials, gaming streams, or even just Q&A sessions. To begin to 'play' around with it, start with simple scenes: your webcam, your screen, and perhaps an image overlay. The 'cat cam' feature I mentioned? It’s a fun way to add personality and keep viewers engaged! Many people ask about setting up their YouTube stream within OBS – it integrates seamlessly with the 'YouTube app' through stream keys, making it easy to go live directly from your computer. Take your time to explore the settings for audio and video quality; a crisp stream makes a huge difference. For video editing, iMovie remains my top pick for beginners. Its simplicity means you can focus on storytelling rather than getting lost in complex software. Features like 'video trimming,' adding 'voice-overs,' and playing with 'color settings' are incredibly intuitive. You can easily add 'transitions' to make your cuts smoother and more professional-looking. I find cutting down long clips and rearranging scenes so much faster on iMovie compared to other tools. Once your video is polished, exporting directly to the 'YouTube app' or your computer for upload is a breeze. This beginner-friendly approach helps you maintain consistency, which is key for any aspiring 'YouTuber.' Remember, done is better than perfect when you're starting out. iMovie helps you get those videos out there efficiently. My biggest tip for aspiring YouTubers is to stay consistent and leverage these tools to simplify your workflow. Don't get overwhelmed by needing expensive gear right away. These free versions are powerful enough to get you started and help you grow. Experiment with different styles, watch what other successful creators do, and most importantly, have fun with it! These apps aren't just tools; they're your creative partners in building your YouTube presence and making your content shine.
