I STOPPED Drinking so I’m Rating Mocktails

In the last few months, I’ve lost the interest to drink so I decided to try a bunch of different mocktails to see which one(s) I like the best, so here are my ratings:

🍹Free Spirits Margarita: 6/10

This was okkayyy. It tastes like margarita mix (what you would add to tequila if you were making a margarita) but I’m still on the hunt for a margarita mocktail that I like.

🍹Mingle: Orange 5/10 and Blackberry 7/10

The variety pack of the Mingle mocktail seltzers had 5 flavors and the only 2 I liked were the Orange and the Blackberry. They tasted like sodas, and I generally like orange and blackberry sodas, however the orange kinda tasted like a diet orange soda.

🍻Fauxmosa: Pineapple 9/10

I tried 3 Fauxmosa flavors and my favorite was the pineapple. It tasted like pineapple soda, which I really like so I drank the whole pack in a day. Other than that, I wasn’t too crazy about the orange or grapefruit flavors.

Do you have any mocktails that you recommend?

... Read moreIt's been such an interesting journey exploring the world of mocktails since cutting back on alcohol! When I first decided to stop drinking, I honestly wondered if I'd ever find a drink that felt special, exciting, or even gave a little "buzz" without the booze. Turns out, there's a whole universe of delicious non-alcoholic options out there, and finding the good mocktails is half the fun! One of the biggest eye-openers for me has been how much variety there is, from ready-to-drink options like the Free Spirits Non-Alcoholic Margarita or the Mingle Mocktails I tried, to making your own concoctions at home. For those of us looking for that aesthetic "home drink pic" or just a refreshing sip, crafting your own mocktails can be incredibly satisfying. Think about simple bases like sparkling water, ginger ale, or kombucha, then add fresh fruit juices (like pineapple, which I loved in the Fauxmosa!), muddled herbs like mint or basil, and a squeeze of lime or lemon. A beautiful garnish, whether it's a citrus slice, a sprig of rosemary, or even edible flowers, instantly elevates your "drink pic real" game and makes it feel like a fancy cocktail from "drinks at the bar." Speaking of that "buzz" without alcohol, it's a real thing! While you won't get intoxicated, certain ingredients can give you a pleasant lift. Spicy elements like fresh ginger, a dash of cayenne, or even a good quality non-alcoholic spirit designed with botanicals can create a warming sensation or a complex flavor profile that feels invigorating. Some people even explore adaptogenic ingredients like ashwagandha or rhodiola in their mocktails, which are said to help with stress or energy, providing a different kind of "lift." It’s less about alteration and more about enhancing your mood and senses naturally. Navigating social situations and "drinking with friends aesthetic" gatherings can also be so much easier with a great mocktail in hand. Instead of feeling left out, you're enjoying a thoughtfully crafted beverage. Don't be afraid to ask for a custom mocktail when you're out at a bar or restaurant – often, bartenders are happy to get creative! Many places now have dedicated non-alcoholic sections on their menus, making "drinks selection" a breeze. If you're hosting, setting up a mocktail bar with various juices, sparkling waters, syrups, and garnishes allows everyone to create their own personalized drink, which is always a hit. For those of you, like me, keenly interested in "best sugar-free mocktail brands taste reviews" or just finding options that align with a healthier lifestyle, it’s worth checking labels. Many ready-to-drink mocktails are loaded with sugar, which can defeat the purpose for some. Look for sparkling waters with natural flavors, or brands that use natural sweeteners or very little added sugar. My "mocktail rating" journey continues, and I'm always on the lookout for new brands and flavors. It's truly about trial and error to find what excites your taste buds. Ultimately, whether you're taking a break from alcohol, don't drink at all, or just want a refreshing alternative, the world of mocktails is incredibly rich and rewarding. It's not just about what's not in the glass, but about the vibrant flavors, creativity, and the joy of a truly delicious drink. Do you have any favorite mocktails or tips for finding the best ones? I'd love to hear them!
