I used to love hand watering until my garden started to slowly get bigger and life got busier. The pipes truly make my like easier and give me back time. I also like this type of drip bc it’s hard to OVER water - it’s controlled and slowly drips. #irrigationhose #busychrisgardening #southern

Bottom watering is the best method for me - Less soil splashing everywhere and getting it on the plants. As I get busier I will put a hose/pipe and fill the trays in one go. #wateringpottedplants #busychrisgardening #southernhemispheregardening #melbournegardener #gardeningtips

These work so well and can be used on the dirt, grass or water. They can also be washed easily #gardentips #busychrisgardening #southernhemispheregardening #repurpose

Spring in Melbourne can be tricky with fluctuating overnight temperatures. It’s always a good idea to check packet instructions for best growing conditions #seedstosowoctober #busychrisgardening #southernhemispheregardening #melbournegardener

Don’t rush your tomatoes into cold soil. Even if sunny days are popping up, cold nights keep topsoil chilled. Planting out too early stops plants from absorbing phosphorus, causing purple leaves and stunted growth. Overnight air temp targets before planting out: Tomatoes: 10°C+ consistently C

This cauliflower was planted in June. I probably should’ve harvested last week #cauliflowerharvest #busychrisgardening #southernhemispheregardening #melbournegardener

This cos lettuce grows so large and I need to break it to fit it in the spinner. Lettuce loves water and grows so well in the cooler months. With the weather warming up now, giving them some shade would be ideal. Planting between tomatoes would be great. #coslettuce #busychrisgardening #sout

They all seem to take turns. They’re still young trees. The Navel and Valencia I’ve had for about 3 yrs and the Cara Cara I got just last year. I recently took off netting so they’re a like squished looking. Soon I’ll feed them with compost #orangetrees #busychrisgardening #southernhemispher

Planted these celery seedlings about 6 months ago, and they just keep giving! Every time I harvest, it grows right back—it’s officially a garden staple. Just make sure to keep them well-watered! #celeryharvest #busychrisgardening #southernhemispheregardening #gardeningtips

Blueberry bush cleanup
Late blueberry bush cleanup! My blueberry bush is already flowering, but it's not too late to snip off the dead stems. If you missed early spring pruning, don't do a full hard prune now or you'll lose your berry harvest! But cutting away dead, brittle stems is safe anytime and helps

If you’re wondering when to harvest your broccoli seeds? Don’t rush it! If you cut them early, the seeds will shrivel up and won't germinate next season. Wait until 30–50% of the pods turn a straw-yellow or brown color. That’s your signal that the seeds are hard, mature, and ready to harvest

Some people think the cauliflower head needs sun, but it’s actually the leaves that need it—not the head! The leaves are the real hero here. They soak up the sunlight to feed the plant while acting as a natural sunshield for the head tucked inside. The leaves protect the colour of the cauliflower

Bees love flowers and plants that are going to seed. I know of gardeners having bee hives just to pollinate their fruit #busychrisgardening #southernhemispheregardening #melbournegardener #attractbees
