Blanching is what you need to do to get those super pale, tender bulbs. Mounding the soil around the base blocks out sunlight keeping the bulbs crisp and sweet. #busychrisgardening #fennel #blanchingfennel #southernhemispheregardening #gardentips

I’ve been seeing this stuff for a bit but not sure how long they’ve been there. At least you don’t always have to go to a garden centre for one item. #busychrisgardening #colesgardening #southernhemispheregardening #gardenertips

Peppers can be "overwintered" and I've done it, but I didnt do it this year because I still had some on the plant and just left them. I'm curious to know if anyone in tropical climates grow them all year round and are successful. #peppers #busychrisgardening #southernhemispher

August is a great time to plant potatoes. They start to sprout now and as the greens grow up top, the october rains will water them beautifully. #busychrisgardening #potatoes #southernhemispheregardening

Overall. im really happy with this product. If rain can't reach the mat and soil bc the plants are large remember to water yourself. #busychrisgardening #jutemulchmat #followup

If you wnat to start sowing you can and just keep them iside until the soil warms up. Spring can still get frosty. I've bought seeds from @theseedcollection @thediggersclub and they've been great. #busychrisgardening #whentosowtomatoseeds #tomatoseeds

This has worked out so well. The area is quite narrow for the mower and the grass gets into the garden beds. I can finally clear out my linen cupboard. If you want to do this you'll need to cover the grass with enough cardboard to block the light from getting to the grass or they will grow thro

Post run snack
The trees are still young and only live in pots for the time being. The Cara Cara was the newest addition and has gifted me with some delicious oranges. #busychrisgardening #orangetree #postrunfuel

mid winter harvest
These plants love growing in the cold, with the exception of peppers. They're a summer plant, but they're still producing in my garden. We've had some sunny days recently in Melbourne. I usually over winter my pepper plants or remove them completed start new. if you live in a cool clima

Nature's accidental seed bombs!
Ever wonder how random plants pop up in your garden? One way is by bird droppings leaving little seed bombs. Wind also does this. #gardeningtips #backyardgardening #busychrisgardening #southernhemispheregardening

potato pest damage
I’m not 100% sure who the culprit is yet, but I have a few top suspects on my radar: 1️. Earwigs (Classic leaf shredders, but the good news is they only eat the foliage above ground and won't touch the potatoes underneath!) 2️. Caterpillars (more dormant in winter, but some are resilient int
