Now that my back is feeling less sore.… 👇

You know what that ice be taking people out and I be LAUGHING HARD. Well guess what…Saturday was my turn. It snowed here and we were stuck home all week besides my husband who had work and drives a truck. Well…Saturday was the first time for real leaving the house. We all got dressed and ready to shop. Cue everyone happily walking to truck. My kids run ahead. I’m yelling stop stop STOP! Before they fall on ice. I grab my youngest hand. She steps on ice, I quickly move her to the pavement where it was clear, and POOF 💨 DOWN GOES ME. One swift second I am on legs, next on my back like a turtle. 🥴😭 all I could do was lay there as my breath returned and my daughter brushes snow off me. 🤣🤣🤣 I said it would be me and it was.

... Read moreNavigating icy sidewalks and roads can be challenging, especially when you have little ones racing ahead. From my personal experience, slipping on ice not only causes immediate pain but can also result in soreness that lingers for days. To minimize risks, I’ve learned several practical safety tips worth sharing: First, always wear shoes or boots with good traction. Rubber soles with deep treads are best for gripping slippery surfaces. Second, walk slowly and take smaller steps to maintain balance. Keeping your center of gravity over your feet helps prevent sudden falls. If you’re holding your child’s hand, like I was, make sure both feet are firmly planted before stepping forward. Additionally, watch the surface carefully — patches of ice can be hard to spot, especially if covered by snow. Using walking aids, such as poles or grips, can provide extra stability. When falls do happen, as they inevitably might, try to relax your muscles rather than stiffening up, which can reduce injury severity. After falling, check yourself carefully for any serious pain. Ice packs and rest are crucial for managing soreness. Dealing with a fall is tough, but keeping a sense of humor helps! My daughter brushing the snow off me was a sweet, lighthearted moment that eased the pain. If you live in snowy areas like Arkansas or regions prone to winter weather, taking these precautions seriously can make your outings safer and more enjoyable. Stay warm, stay careful, and don’t forget to laugh off those unexpected slips.
