Become an early bird

I love enjoying my early mornings. The days I wake up early I get so much done and feel very productive yet I am not naturally a morning person. It does take effort for me but it is totally worth it. Here are some things that help me.

1. Get in the habit of sleeping early. I like to sleep 8 hours a day so if I am planning on waking up at 6 I go to bed at 9:30 pm so I can be asleep by 10pm.

2. Before going to bed I leave things ready, such as my lunch or the clothes I will be wearing the next day.I like to feel prepared for the morning so I will prepare anything that can slow me down.

3. Have a happy morning routine. I love waking up looking forward to something and that is my coffee. After getting ready and some stuff out of the way I head to a coffee shop to grab my coffee.

... Read moreIt's amazing how much a little shift in your morning routine can change your entire day, right? While my initial tips focus on getting to bed early, preparing ahead, and having a lovely coffee to look forward to, I've discovered a few other game-changers that truly solidify that 'early bird' feeling. Becoming a true 6 AM girly isn't just about dragging yourself out of bed; it's about making those first hours genuinely enjoyable and productive, even when your body initially resists. One thing I've realized is the incredible power of light, especially when addressing that sleepy grogginess. Many of you might be searching for 'early morning sunlight routine' tips, and for good reason! As soon as my alarm goes off, even before I fully sit up, I make it a point to open my curtains wide. Letting natural light flood into the room signals to your brain that it's daytime, helping to regulate your circadian rhythm and suppress melatonin production. If it's still dark, a full-spectrum light lamp can mimic sunlight. Better yet, if you can, step outside for just a few minutes after you get ready. Even a brief exposure to the morning air and natural light can make a huge difference in waking up your senses and boosting your mood. I find it much easier to shake off the sleepiness when I consciously expose myself to light early on. Beyond light, another simple yet powerful tip is immediate hydration. Our bodies lose water overnight, and waking up slightly dehydrated can contribute to fatigue. I always keep a glass of water by my bedside. My first action after opening the curtains is to drink a full glass. It's a small habit, but it helps kickstart my metabolism and makes me feel more alert almost instantly. Think of it as rehydrating your system for the day ahead. And what about setting the tone for the day? Instead of immediately diving into emails or chores, I've found that incorporating a few minutes of gentle movement or mindfulness can be incredibly grounding. This doesn't have to be a full workout! It could be five minutes of stretching, a quick yoga flow, or even just some deep breathing exercises. For me, sometimes it's simply sitting quietly with my coffee for 10 minutes, just appreciating the quiet before the day gets busy. This little pocket of calm helps manage stress and sets a positive mental state, making the rest of my 'early bird morning routine' feel much more intentional and less rushed. Finally, don't underestimate the power of your 'why.' Why do you want to become an early bird? Is it to exercise, work on a personal project, enjoy quiet time, or simply feel more prepared? Connecting your early wake-up call to a deeper personal goal or passion makes it infinitely easier to get out of bed. On days when I'm tempted to hit snooze, reminding myself of the peaceful time I'll have to read or plan my day makes all the difference. It's about finding joy and purpose in those early hours. Remember, consistency is key, and it's okay to have off days. Be patient with yourself, and celebrate every small victory on your journey to becoming a thriving early bird!
