ADHD and autism don’t just feel hard—they are hard. But I'm here to help. Comment ADHD Sync and get access to the 5 day mini course I created to help you work with your hormones!

8/6 Edited to

... Read moreLiving with ADHD and autism can indeed feel overwhelming, especially when hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause come into play. From personal experience and many shared stories, I’ve noticed that fluctuating levels of estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone can seriously impact executive functions—those critical brain skills we rely on to plan, focus, and regulate emotions. During these phases, common symptoms such as forgetfulness, difficulty concentrating, emotional outbursts, and fatigue can become intensified. This is because hormones influence the brain’s ability to handle everyday tasks, making managing ADHD and autism even more challenging. For example, I’ve heard from individuals who suddenly find it hard to perform simple routines like feeding themselves or following through on plans, which can be incredibly frustrating. Of course, Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is often considered as a potential support method. However, from what I’ve learned and seen, HRT alone isn’t a complete solution. Without complementing with targeted nutrition, lifestyle adjustments, and ADHD-specific strategies, the benefits are limited. That’s why a holistic approach is essential—addressing diet, exercise, sleep hygiene, and emotional regulation techniques alongside medical options. I personally find bite-sized, actionable steps the most effective way to make progress without feeling overwhelmed. Breaking down complex strategies into manageable daily challenges helps build sustainable habits that work in sync with hormonal cycles. This kind of tailored support can transform what feels like an uphill battle into steady progress. If you’re navigating these difficulties, joining communities or courses focused on the intersection of ADHD, autism, and hormonal health can be very empowering. Sharing experiences and learning practical coping mechanisms make the journey less isolating and more hopeful. Remember, you’re not alone in this, and with the right tools, it’s possible to regain control and improve your quality of life.
