Baking chicken is one of my favorite go-to meals when I need something both hearty and simple. Over time, I've learned that achieving juicy and tender baked chicken requires more than just setting the oven timer. For instance, marinating the chicken beforehand with herbs, garlic, and a splash of lemon juice can elevate the flavor profile significantly. Another trick I've found useful is to bake the chicken at a higher temperature initially, around 425°F (220°C), for the first 15-20 minutes to crisp up the skin and then lower the heat to 350°F (175°C) to finish cooking the inside without drying it out. This method helps retain moisture and results in a perfect balance between crispy skin and succulent meat. For sides, I love roasting vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and Brussels sprouts in the same pan alongside the chicken. The drippings from the chicken add a rich flavor to the veggies, making it a one-pan wonder meal. Lastly, letting the baked chicken rest for 5-10 minutes after coming out of the oven helps the juices redistribute, ensuring each bite is moist and flavorful. I usually pair it with a simple green salad or a light garlic rice to round out the meal. Overall, baked chicken is a versatile dish that’s easy to customize based on personal preference. With a few simple adjustments in preparation and cooking techniques, it can easily become a highlight of your dinner table.
