I was ANNOYED when thrifting & I saw someone donated this book, completed used & the marker was so old it was STUCK on there. 😵💫
And then in a split second, it was in my cart.🛒
Crazy right??
I was QUICK to be so mad that I could have easily ruined my thrifting experience and my mood for the day. AND I decided that wasn’t going to be helpful, only hurtful.
So for .99 cents, I threw it in the cart. What if I wasted a dollar? WHAT IF I save it from the landfill, save myself money by not paying full price AND teach my son so much from this one book.
He learned:
⭐️ that we can clean up and make things new again
⭐️ to take care of your things so others can enjoy them too
⭐️ patience, trial and error. It took a few tries to clean it up!
⭐️ think outside of the box
⭐️ teamwork with mama!
✨and this book itself will teach him so much!!
This experience had a happy ending, but they don’t always. And that’s still ok! Still no need to get upset, but to be proud of yourself for trying and keeping those unpleasant feelings at bay.
If you can pause & shift your mindset, the world isn’t such an ugly place 💞💞💞
... Read moreReframing your mindset is more than just a mental exercise; it can lead to profound changes in how you respond to life’s challenges. The act of finding beauty in the mundane, as demonstrated by rescuing a book from being thrown away, serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of keeping a positive attitude.
When we choose to view setbacks as learning opportunities, we can teach ourselves and our children vital life skills, such as resilience and adaptability. For example, during the process of cleaning and restoring an item, not only do we practice patience and teamwork, but we also instill a sense of responsibility in younger generations.
Research has shown that a growth mindset, which embraces challenges and learns from criticism, leads to higher achievement and greater satisfaction in life. This approach encourages us to shift our perspective when confronted with negativity, and instead focus on constructive solutions. As we encourage our kids to think outside the box, we also foster creativity and a willingness to innovate.
As you consciously choose your mindset each day, consider journaling or discussing these shifts with friends or family. These practices can reinforce your commitment to staying positive. Remember, it's okay to have frustrating days; what's vital is how we choose to react to those feelings. By training yourself to pause and consider the lessons in every experience, you cultivate a mental environment where joy and learning can thrive together.
