For the longest time, I thought working harder and chasing money was the right thing to do.
I wanted to provide. I wanted stability. I kept telling myself that all the sacrifices would eventually be worth it. But I didn’t realize how much I was actually sacrificing.
My time. My family. My marriage. My own peace.
I was so focused on making ends meet that I forgot there were things money could never replace. Losing my marriage forced me to look at myself and the choices I made. And honestly, I regret a lot of them.
I can’t go back and change the past. I can’t undo the mistakes I’ve made or become the father and husband I wish I had been back then. But I can still choose what kind of man I become from here.
I want to be there for my kids. I want to rebuild myself. I want to take care of my own wellbeing and stop living like my only purpose is to chase money. Maybe I learned this lesson too late.
But I refuse to let my mistakes be the end of my story. Some things are priceless. You only realize it when they’re gone. ❤️🩹

Initially, I believed that working longer hours and taking on more projects was the way to secure a better future for my family. However, over time, I began to notice the toll it took—not just on my marriage, but on my mental and emotional health as well.
There’s a moment when the realization hits that money, while important, cannot replace the intangible things like time with loved ones or personal wellbeing. One lesson I've learned is the importance of setting boundaries at work and consciously making time for meaningful connections. This might mean turning down extra shifts or making a regular commitment to family dinners, even when work feels overwhelming.
Moreover, self-care can't be overlooked. I started dedicating small pockets of time daily to activities that nurtured my peace—whether it was reading, meditating, or just taking a walk outside. These moments helped me regain clarity and appreciate what truly matters.
It's never easy to admit mistakes or face loss, but the power lies in how we choose to move forward. Like the author, I’ve found purpose in being present for my kids and actively rebuilding trust and connection. We can’t change the past, but we can definitely shape the kind of people we become. This journey is ongoing and requires patience, but it’s absolutely worth it.
Remember, some things are indeed priceless, and we often realize that only when they’re gone. Prioritizing relationships and wellbeing isn’t just a sacrifice; it’s an investment in a fulfilling life.
