Calling all crochet baddies!

HELP! This is my second crochet project EVER so Im learning as 1 go. I started with magic circle and single crochet the started trying to expand with double crochet and then when it started ruffling I stopped expanding and still doing double crochet. Will it flatten out? Or should I just wing it
