Am I loved? Part 1
In life, we often find ourselves questioning whether our parents truly love us.
These doubts do arises in certain situations, especially within our families. We might perceive our parents as strict, controlling, or hard to understand, particularly when they set curfews or respond to our hardships with comforting phrases like "it's okay" or "everything will be alright."
Such responses can sometimes make us feel misunderstood or uncared for, but deep down, our parents genuinely care for us.
1. Curfew
Parents tend to set curfew for us and our friends may say it’s pathetic to us
Though the reason parents set curfew for us is because they are worried for us, they want us home early because they do not feel safe if we loiter out too late, as they may fear out there at night it could be dangerous
2. It’s alright, it’s ok, small matter
Sometimes when we share our problems, our parents may come to us and tell us it’s ok, it’s gonna be alright and we may feel like Yoo, I’m facing a hard time and your telling me it’s alright? While my friends will be with me.
I believe sometimes as much as they wanna ask more, but they don’t know how to engage and sometimes they may feel that if they ask too much we may be annoyed, and sometimes to them it’s something that can be easily get over with as they had gone through something similar before
3. Education
Many times parents keep telling us to study and it just gets annoying ye ~ and we wonder why they keep asking us to study, sending us to tuition, saying they will ground us if we don’t do well, but truth is they just want us to do well because in society nowadays, education in certain areas plays a big thing and the income that you can get with a degree it could be much more, least giving you a finance assurance kind of thing for the future when you start working
Sometimes we don’t see these actions or hear the reason but as time pass we realise it and it maybe too late~ sometimes we got to just look from their pov or ask to find out ~ don’t make assumptions and regret thereafter…
And soo here’s my story….
Since young when I grew up, my communication with my dad slowly decline and there are often fights between my dad and I as our relationship weren’t close. We didn’t talk much and argument came in often… and one day we received a call from the hospital… and the following day… he passed (though the doctor said he wasn’t in that stage yet) so it was quite shocking
Though I’m grateful that my heart open up and before I went for an exposure trip, I went to visit my dad and talk to him.
Honestly, it was a regret that I didn’t understand him well nor spent much time with him in the past.
Growing up, our relationship wasn’t the closest, often we fight and argue since young, and though he had Parkinson, my greatest regret was not trusting, believing and being there for him only at the final few moments (that we didn’t knew it was)
Thoughts that roses suspicion to the family was that if he freezes or claim it’s quite bad then how was he able to fight, when he fell there would be couple of steps taken before the fall, was it stage? Honestly, during that period, a lot of things was going on and we didn’t think much.
Arguments on how we thought he wasn’t bothering about paying for his medical bills… until his passing which we realise in the account book he was denied taking out a certain sum that he want to take out and I believe it was to pay for his future bills.
So yes, don’t regret it, spend more time with your family and be understanding 😀 see from their POV
Many of us grapple with feelings of doubt about our parents' love, especially when their expressions of care seem limited or hard to understand. Education is another area where parental love is evident but frequently misunderstood. Their insistence on studying hard and attending tuition may seem annoying, but it reflects their wish to secure a better future for us, offering financial stability and opportunities that they hope we will benefit from. From my own story, the regret of not fully understanding my father until it was too late taught me the importance of patience, communication, and empathy. Spending time and asking questions, rather than making assumptions, helps bridge the emotional gap. The OCR text "DO YOU LOVE ME? DO NOT LEAVE ME" echoes the underlying fears many children feel about parental love and abandonment. Acknowledging these fears openly can improve family bonds and mutual understanding. Ultimately, recognizing parental love requires patience and seeing things from their perspective. Love isn’t always expressed in the ways we want, but it is often present beneath the surface, in their actions and intentions. Don't let misunderstandings lead to regret—reach out, communicate, and cherish the moments with your family.
