Thought my pipes burst.
Turns out it was my gas heater flooding the service balcony with condensation. Solution: 1) make sure city gas are using copper pipes 2) open your windows to ventilate #hdb #renovationsg #bto #btorenovation #interior

Reno Blind Spot - Socket at Pull Out Tray
One thing we totally overlooked during our renovation: we installed the socket right at the back of the pull-out tray meant for our air fryer. The result? The air fryer’s power cord is stretched to the limit, and we can’t even fully pull out the tray — which totally defeats its purpose 😑 Le

Reno Blindspot: Toilet Bowl x Bidet Seat Cover
In a bid to save costs, we opted to keep the HDB-provided toilet bowls and bought bidet seat covers instead of the usual bidet sprays. What we didn’t expect? The bidet seat brackets didn’t fit. We were so focused on choosing the right toilet bowl shape (V, U, D, O) that we completely overlook

Sharing our experience getting tiles from JB 🇲🇾➡️🇸🇬
For context: our living room didn’t come with tiles, and because I love a seamless look, I wanted the exact same tiles as our kitchen — which were provided by HDB. HDB’s supplier quoted us SGD 12 per tile (excluding delivery), so we did some digging… and found that the exact same tile — “Guocera

Reno Blindspot - Door Hitting Vanity
Plan Your Vanity Space Right! We extended the wall on the opposite side of the entrance to align the curb with the shower wall—this was during early tiling works. At that point, we hadn’t decided on the vanity cabinet yet. Standard vanity cabinets are typically 45–50 cm deep—the wider, the sl

Another BSC overlook
We were supposed to have two water points, but we’ve ended up with one actual hole and one… hopeful marking? 😂 Looks like someone marked it, got distracted, and never come back for round 2 Because of the missing water point, we had to get BSC to fix it before the City Gas contractors could c

Don’t trust HDB/BSC blue tapes
The blue tape marking our concealed water pipe was pasted 100mm above the actual pipe (it should have been 50mm according to HDB/BSC’s own notice: “Do not drill within 50mm of the tape marking”). We trusted their marking… and guess what? Our contractor hit the pipe, and we had a lovely water fou

Beyond the Blue Stickers: Real Defects Matter
❌ Prioritization Failure: Defect checkers focused on superficial defects (wall paint scratches) instead of critical ones like: • Electrical (wiring, DB box, circuit issues) • Mechanical (plumbing leaks, water ponding) • Architectural (slanted door frames, ceiling issu

Realistic Version of Defect Check Procedure
Default Defect Check Procedure ✅ 1st Trip: • Defect checker inspects the unit and records defects. • They submit the defect report to BSC on your behalf. ✅ 2nd Trip: • Joint inspection with BSC + defect checker to review the defects together. ✅ 3rd Trip: • Joint inspection with BSC
