Servant Leadership Day 1🍋

Servant leadership sounds good in theory.

But when you’re constantly overextending, over-helping, and over-showing up…

it stops being leadership.

It becomes burnout.

Supporting your team should not come at the cost of yourself.

Real servant leadership includes boundaries.

I’m doing a series this week breaking down servant leadership in real life.

Follow along if you want the version no one talks about.

... Read moreFrom my experience, embracing servant leadership means more than just being available 24/7 or constantly stepping in to help—it’s about knowing when to set limits. The OCR content aptly highlights common pitfalls: “Serving your team doesn’t mean being available 24/7” and “Helping people doesn’t mean draining yourself.” These lessons hit home because I’ve seen firsthand how overextending can lead to exhaustion and reduced effectiveness. True servant leadership requires balancing support with self-care. It’s about empowering others to step up rather than always being the one who jumps in. This approach not only prevents burnout but promotes a healthier, more sustainable workplace culture. When leaders establish healthy boundaries, they model respect for their own time and energy, encouraging their teams to do the same. I also found that communicating these boundaries clearly helps set expectations and reduces misunderstandings. Leaders can support their team’s growth by fostering autonomy instead of constantly intervening. This shift can transform leadership from a source of stress into a rewarding experience for everyone involved. If you’re exploring servant leadership, don’t overlook the critical role boundaries play. It’s not just a leadership style; it’s a practice that requires intentional balance between service and self-preservation. Embracing this balance can help you lead more effectively and sustainably, avoiding burnout while truly serving your team.

Servant leadership isn’t always something you can define right away. 🌷 But you can feel it. It shows up in how safe you feel asking questions. In whether support is consistent. In whether someone steps in when it matters. It’s not about doing everything for people. It’s about creating
