... Read moreFrom my experience working in various team environments, I've noticed that the quietest employees often aren't the most effective. It’s tempting for managers to prefer employees who require less oversight, but this can result in overlooking those who truly drive progress by voicing ideas, raising concerns, and challenging the status quo. Strong employees usually want clarity on expectations and aren't afraid to disagree respectfully. They engage deeply with their work and their teams, which can sometimes be mistaken for being 'difficult.' However, this kind of engagement fosters innovation and ensures that problems are surfaced early rather than ignored. Good management, in my view, is less about having employees who are easy to control and more about empowering capable adults who bring their voices and insights to the table. When organizations create a culture where questions and constructive disagreements are welcomed, they tend to see better teamwork and higher overall satisfaction. Consider encouraging your team to speak up and express their perspectives openly. This might require managers to shift from valuing compliance to appreciating active participation. Over time, this approach builds a resilient and dynamic workplace culture where both employees and leadership grow together.
