How to do a Euro trip without breaking the bank!✈️

I am all about affordable travel and travel being accessible to anyone, so here are some tips that I use when traveling to save money!!

1. I like to pick one nicer, sit down meal a day. When traveling long-term, it can cost a lot to eat out at a sit down spot every single meal. Therefore, I will pick one meal mid-day, a later lunch or earlier dinner to eat out at.

2. I love going into grocery stores and markets to buy affordable food and drinks! Grocery stores are also one of my favorite ways to explore a new country and culture. I love taking grocery store meals and bringing them to a park or the beach to hang out and people watch.

3. I try to prioritize and pick 1-2 activities/excursions in each place I go. Airbnb Experiences, Get Your Guide and Viator are some of my favorite spots to look on. Boat trips, food tours, wine tasting, and museums are some examples of my favorite things!

4. Research and have a list of plenty of site seeing and free activities to do! I love wandering aimlessly around a new city and coming across any shops or sites I can find. I also love spending the day at the beach or hanging out at a park.

5. Accommodation can be one of the most expensive parts of your trip, especially in touristy cities. Staying in hostels is one of my favorite way to cut costs as well as meet people while solo traveling. However, if you're traveling with a larger group of people, splitting Airbnbs can be just as or even more affordable.

6. I like to have an idea of a daily spending goal to budget for my trips. I use the app TripCoin to track my daily spending so I have an idea. This spending limit will depend on the location. For Europe I will aim for $50-60/day (not including accommodation). However, for places in SouthEast Asia I might aim for $20/day.

7. Get a credit card with no international fees! I also have ones with lounge access and that rack up points too. My favorite is the Capital One Venture X.

This is your sign that travel CAN be affordable and possible for everyone if you use tips like this! Happy traveling!!

... Read moreTraveling Europe on a budget might seem challenging, but with the right strategies, you can experience the continent’s rich culture and stunning sites without overspending. One smart tip is exploring local grocery stores and markets, which offer affordable snacks and meals. Not only do grocery store foods like local cheeses, breads, and fresh produce save money, but they also let you taste authentic flavors while picnicking at parks or popular scenic spots. For example, picking up a bottle of grocery-store wine to enjoy outdoors before heading to a bar is a perfect way to save on pricey drinks. When planning daily activities, prioritize 1-2 unique excursions such as boat trips, food tours, or museum visits. Platforms like Airbnb Experiences, Get Your Guide, and Viator provide well-curated options that fit different budgets and interests. Additionally, many European cities offer incredible free activities—wandering through historic neighborhoods, visiting public beaches, or spending time at local markets bring authentic experiences without added cost. Accommodation often takes up a major part of your travel budget. Hostels remain a cost-effective choice, especially if you travel solo and want to meet fellow travelers. For groups, splitting the cost of an Airbnb rental can be equally affordable and often more comfortable. Booking in less tourist-centric neighborhoods can also reduce expenses while providing local charm. Tracking your daily expenses is key to staying within budget. Apps like TripCoin help monitor spending on meals, transportation, and shopping, allowing flexibility without surprises. Setting a realistic daily spending goal—$50-60 per day for many European destinations—helps keep your finances in check. Moreover, using a credit card that charges no international fees, such as the Capital One Venture X, can save you money on currency conversions and even grant lounge access and reward points. By combining these cost-saving tips—selective dining, smart shopping, prioritized activities, budget lodging, daily expense tracking, and savvy credit cards—you can enjoy a fulfilling European adventure that’s both affordable and enriching. Travel need not be expensive to be memorable and exciting!
