Was to spend time sitting around the fire - at a distance due to the heat and humidity - and just enjoy the present with family and friends. Some of my favorite memories have all involved a campfire and some good food 🥰

We stacked some dry logs nearby and even hung a small lantern on a metal frame overhead – it added such a warm glow! Having a good set of tongs handy makes managing the fire so much easier, too. It’s all about making it inviting and safe for everyone, especially the little ones. Beyond just the warmth, the food is often a huge part of those unforgettable moments. While s'mores are an absolute must–who can resist gooey marshmallows and chocolate over a crackling fire?–we've also experimented with other easy campfire treats. Think foil packet dinners with sausages and veggies, or even grilled corn on the cob. My personal favorite is always campfire popcorn in a long-handled popper; the smell alone brings back so many memories! Gathering around, patiently waiting for the kernels to pop, and then sharing the warm, salty goodness – it's pure bliss. But it's not just about eating; it's about connecting. We always make sure to put our phones away and truly engage. Storytelling is a classic campfire activity. Sometimes we tell spooky tales (mild ones, of course!), other times we just reminisce about funny family anecdotes. Simple games like "I Spy" or charades can also be a hit, especially as the evening winds down. One of my favorite traditions is having everyone share their favorite part of the day while we're enjoying the final embers. It's a wonderful way to reflect and appreciate each other. Of course, safety is paramount. Always ensure your fire pit is on a clear, level surface away from anything flammable. Keep a bucket of water or a fire extinguisher nearby, and never leave a fire unattended. Before calling it a night, make sure the fire is completely extinguished – douse it with water and stir the ashes, repeating until everything is cool to the touch. These "family campfire moments" are truly gold. They strip away the complexities of daily life and bring us back to basics: good company, nature's beauty, and the simple comfort of a fire. It's these kinds of evenings that weave the richest tapestry of family memories, making us eager for the next one. They're not just plans; they're cherished traditions in the making.
