... Read moreHey everyone! I know how challenging it can be to consistently study the Bible when your brain is wired like mine, always seeking new stimulation and sometimes struggling with focus. For the longest time, I felt like a 'lukewarm Christian' because traditional study methods just weren't clicking. But I've discovered some amazing strategies, many of which I even refined with a little help from ChatGPT, that have truly transformed my spiritual routine. If you're looking for an ADHD Bible reading plan that actually works, keep reading! One of the biggest game-changers for me has been setting manageable goals. Forget trying to read entire chapters or books in one sitting. My plan, inspired by insights from asking ChatGPT 'Help me study the Bible as someone with ADHD,' suggests starting with just one verse or 5-10 minutes daily. Seriously, that's it! The consistency of showing up every day, even for a short burst, builds momentum without overwhelming my brain. It's about understanding and reflecting on a small portion deeply, rather than rushing through a large quantity and forgetting it all. This approach is perfect for an ADHD study routine because it respects our fluctuating attention spans. Next up is 'Chunk It Down'. This means breaking longer passages into smaller, digestible segments. Instead of tackling a whole Psalm, I might focus on just 2-3 verses. Using short passages helps prevent that mental fatigue that often kicks in. To keep my brain engaged, I lean heavily into visual engagement. I've found that using highlighters to mark key phrases, or even investing in illustrated Bibles with space for notes and doodles, makes a huge difference. It turns a static page into an interactive experience, almost like a game for my brain! For deeper understanding and retention, 'Repetition & Reflection' is key. I use the S.O.A.P. method (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer), which gives a clear framework. I read the Scripture, observe what stands out, think about how I can Apply it to my life, and then turn it into a Prayer. To ensure I don't get sidetracked, I set a 10-minute timer specifically for this reflection process. This creates a focused sprint where I know I need to complete my thoughts before the timer dings. It's an excellent way to maintain focus and ensure I'm actually processing what I've read. Finally, don't underestimate the power of audio or video resources. If reading feels like too much, listening can be much more accessible. Apps like YouVersion offer fantastic audio Bibles and study plans that you can follow along with. The Dwell app is another incredible resource, providing different voices and background music options which can be surprisingly calming and help with concentration. I also love finding short Bible videos on YouTube that explain concepts I'm struggling with. These options are fantastic for getting the Word into your heart even when your eyes or brain aren't cooperating with traditional reading. Remember, this is about finding what works for *you*. Don't be afraid to experiment with these ADHD-friendly reading strategies. This isn't about perfection, but about progress and building a sustainable habit. You can create your own weekly plan by incorporating these tips. Keep going, and God bless your journey!
