"How to pick a fight, the art of conflict"

This sermon is part 3 of 4 on a series focusing on COMMUNICATION and boy did it home for me.

Today we focused a lot on Ephesians 4:17-38(ish). We focused on the difference between sensitivity, sensuality and selfishness.

My key takeaways were:

•you can disagree without disrespecting.

•words have a lasting impact.

•elevate your perspective in conversations.

•meaningless silence is better than meaningless (hurtful) words.

•gentleness is hard to live out but its harder to live without.

•do not let the sun go down while you're still angry. (Meaning, do not give the devil a foot hole).

•keeping it right vs keeping it real (morals).

•identifying the good vs the evil in this world.

•forgive as God forgave you.

And at the end of the day remember that we all are imperfect individuals. 🤍

... Read moreConflict is an inevitable part of human interaction, but it doesn’t have to lead to negative outcomes. Embracing effective communication can transform disputes into opportunities for growth. Recognizing the difference between sensitivity and selfishness is essential. Focus on maintaining respect – you can disagree without the need for disrespect or harm. Words carry weight. They have the power to heal or to hurt, making it crucial to choose them wisely. Incorporate practices such as active listening and empathy to elevate your conversations. Meaningless silence may be a better alternative to hurtful words, allowing space for reflection and resolution. Additionally, it’s important to forgive, echoing the biblical principle of forgiveness. Holding onto anger not only hinders personal peace but can lead to unresolved issues festering over time. Aim to resolve differences before the day ends, preventing negativity from taking root. In understanding good versus evil, a clear moral framework can guide decision-making in conflict scenarios. Recognizing our shared imperfections helps foster an atmosphere of grace and compassion, enhancing our relationships both in personal and communal settings. By implementing these strategies, you can navigate conflicts skillfully and emerge stronger.
