Kitchen Sink- From Undermount to Top Mount
❓Why from an undermount sink to a top mount sink? Given how we are a family of 5, we cook almost daily and I need a durable sink. Granted that undermount sink is more aesthetically pleasing but should a change of sink be required, it will be just another massive job. Ajumma just decided that a top

$165 worth of cake from Goodwood Park- yay or nay?
It was my brother's birthday and I decided to get him his birthday cakes. Cakes(save for the usual suspects like Bengawan Solo/Four Leaves) are generally quite expensive in Singapore. Sometimes a slice at a cafe can set me off $10. Yes, I agree- there is rental, marketing costs, labour, etc. Ho

Glamping at Mount Fuji
December 2024 Once again, it is the December holidays and somehow a good percentage of Singaporean families travel during the year-end, a reward for the parents and kids for passing a milestone as a family. It was our first time to Mount Fuji, and we wanted it to be a memorable trip(e.g. wak

Tora Tora Tora- legit Izakaya in Ubi!
Basically, we stumbled upon this izakaya on a random Friday date night. Yea, Ajumma and E are in our 40s and date nights are an excuse to just eat better and get away from the kids and Saizeriya. 🫠 E liked it so much that he hosted his intern's getaway party at Tora Tora Tora, which apparent

Smiths- Authentic British Fish and Chip Shop
We picked Ryan up after his rugby training a couple of evenings ago and ended up having some fish and chips at Smith's. Hmm.... it was okay, a bit on the pricier end for the quality and ambience. Food wise, not too bad, the fish was fresh and flaky. You can pass on the lemonade, it was mid.

St Regis Beijing- $375/night
December 2023 We booked two rooms, one for ourselves and one for the kids with an inter-connecting door. St Regis' service was expectedly exceptional. There was an Amex Platinum promotion then- stay 3 nights and the 4th night is free. So each room was about $1500 for 4 nights. E's bi

Shinjuku Benton Set- $24.50
Last Sunday, we dropped Megan off for her friend's birthday party at Bounce and decided to have a quick lunch at Cuppage Plaza. Gyoza no Ohsho (my most favourite place for gyozas) had a queue and I am not a fan of queueing. We ended up at Izakaya Shinjuku for lunch. Shinjuku serves casual an

Breakfast at Le Petit Paris, Opera Estate
It was a Friday morning and kids were in school. We wanted to head to Refuel at Bedok Reservoir but it was closed. Did a quick Google for breakfast and ended up at this quaint cafe, which is a few shops away from Baker and Cook. I ordered the French style scrambled eggs, with hot chocolate and E

Afternoon Tea At Woo Bar, W Hotel, $35/pax
The usual price is $58++ per pax for afternoon tea. Using the Amex Platinum Card and Love Dining Privileges, afternoon tea was one for one. In the end, I paid slightly under $70 for my client and myself. The team also remembered to pass me a free parking coupon. Afternoon tea was interesting as

Afternoon Tea at Royale, Mecure Bugis, $25/pax
According to my girlfriend, she used her Maybank card as there was a promotion- 1 for 1. For $25 per pax, I reckon that is pretty decent for a non-crowded location, with proper service for quick catch-up. #mindfulspending #afternoontea #highteasg #mecurebugis

$600 for a family hanfu photoshoot in Beijing!
Hello Zesties! Yes, I am back. Again. Unlike many of you, Ajumma just takes a super long time to write a post. And before you know it, it is the last quarter of the year. This year, we are planning to fly to Tokyo with the kids. For the past two trips to Japan, we usually end up skiing at Club M

Single Income- 3 kids. Stressors and Expectations.
Recently, there was a post on a Singaporean father earning $12k per month, he has a non working spouse, 4 kids and he finds it hard to save. This is a relatable situation for many folks in the 40s with kids, a housing loan(usually, a substantial percentage of the expenses), car loan, insurance prem

$55 for 2 pax. Yakiniku in Simei/Simpang
E and I tried Wagyu Nikuya on one of the evenings last week. We tried the $55 Wagyu Premium Set, which included wagyu steak, cubes and karubi. There was a portion of vegetables. Rice and miso soup are free flow. Beef was as nice as Wano Niku(also a popular coffeeshop yakiniku spot) and priced c

Weekly Shop at Redmart!
How much do you spend on groceries weekly for a family of 5? For us, it could easily be $400-500 per week. Usually, I will do a big shop on Redmart or Fairprice Online. I like to do at least one big online shop a week especially for heavier items like rice, drinks, etc. So for this week's s

Should you take time off to be a SAHM?
I am still trying to write and make writing a habit. It hasn't been easy because I am often distracted by a million things and the worst thing is that I like being distracted. Anyways. Ever since the 5 year stint in London, my main role somewhat steered towards being a mother. Sorry, I mean
