As someone who doesn’t have kids, seeing how fast other people’s kids grow up in between long gaps of seeing them really messes with my brain and puts time into perspective in a way I reeeaally don’t like 😂

2020 really felt like a couple years ago - it makes no sense!!! #millennials #aging #nostalgia #relatable #growingup

1/9 Edited to

... Read moreIt’s wild to truly grasp how quickly time passes, especially when you think about how someone born in 2020 is now old enough to talk and interact meaningfully. For many of us without kids, this sudden realization can be both fascinating and unsettling. I often find myself reflecting on how the world seems to move faster as we get older, and seeing children grow up in the blink of an eye adds a strange layer of nostalgia and even a bit of existential pause. Personally, I’ve noticed that moments and milestones, which once felt so far apart, now blend together. The pandemic years made it even harder to track time, as days and months blurred due to lockdowns and constant changes. When I catch up with family or friends who have kids, the growth is jaw-dropping. Children seem to sprout up in between visits, learning to speak, walk, and express themselves before you realize it. This rapid growth sparks a deep awareness about aging and how we process memory. The feeling that 2020 was just a short while ago really threw me off—especially considering all the global events that happened since then. I think many millennials can relate to this sensation of being caught between nostalgia for the recent past and the unavoidable march forward. It also reminded me how important it is to cherish the present and stay connected with loved ones. Because whether or not you have children, time doesn’t slow down for anyone. Taking mental snapshots of moments, whether through photos, calls, or simply quality time, helps preserve those fleeting memories and grounds us in this rapid-moving world. Overall, understanding that kids born in 2020 are now communicating is a small but powerful way to reflect on how we all grow up and how life’s pace continues to challenge our perception of time. It’s a reminder to embrace change while keeping a nod to nostalgia, finding comfort in the shared human experience of growing, aging, and living through these interesting times.
