Your menstrual cycle explained 💕

Many women have no idea how their cycle works despite having it every month for years, even decades! These 4 phases of your cycle impact your day-to-day life and well-being. Your body’s goal is to prepare you for pregnancy (regardless if that is your goal or not! 😆); thus, it has a menstrual cycle:

✨ Menstruation: your period. Lets you know that you are not pregnant.

✨ Follicular phase: grows the egg. Estrogen and progesterone rise.

✨Ovulation: release a mature egg. Increased energy and libido.

✨ Luteal phase: prepares for a possible pregnancy. When not pregnant, estrogen and progesterone drop and PMS symptoms start.

Did you know about these 4 phases of your cycle? Let me know in the comments 👇🏽

... Read moreIt's incredible how much our menstrual cycle influences not just our physical bodies, but our emotions and overall mood! For years, I just thought my feelings were random, but once I started understanding the '4 Phases of my MENSTRUAL CYCLE,' everything clicked. It’s truly easy to remember how each phase impacts you, and learning this has been a game-changer for my well-being. Let's dive deeper into how your mood shifts through these four distinct phases: 1. Menstrual Phase (Days 1-5, approximately): The Time for Rest & Reflection This is when your period actually happens. Your body is shedding the uterine lining, and hormonally, both estrogen and progesterone are at their lowest. It's no wonder many of us can feel a bit withdrawn, introspective, or even a little sad during this time. I often find myself feeling drained, experiencing some bloating and pain, which naturally impacts my emotional energy. Instead of fighting it, I've learned to lean into this phase. It's a perfect time for quiet activities, reflection, journaling, and giving yourself permission to slow down. Don't push yourself to be overly social or productive if your body is craving rest. 2. Follicular Phase (Days 1-14, overlapping with menstruation initially): The Rise of Energy & Optimism As your period ends, your body starts preparing for ovulation, and estrogen levels begin to rise steadily. This is often called the 'growth' phase, and you'll likely feel a wonderful shift in your mood! For me, this is when I start feeling more energetic, optimistic, and mentally sharp. My creativity often sparks, and I feel more outgoing and ready to take on new projects. The OCR mentioned 'increased energy and libido,' and I can totally relate! It’s a fantastic time for planning, brainstorming, and socialising. I make sure to leverage this boost to get things done and connect with friends. 3. Ovulation Phase (Around Day 14): Peak Confidence & Charisma This is the grand finale of the first half of your cycle! Estrogen levels peak, and your body releases a mature egg. You'll likely experience peak energy and libido, as the OCR noted. I personally feel my most confident, articulate, and socially vibrant during ovulation. There's a natural glow and an incredible sense of vitality. If you have big presentations, important meetings, or social events, this is typically your prime time! I've noticed my communication skills are at their best, and I feel most magnetic. It's a powerful few days to harness that elevated mood and energy. 4. Luteal Phase (Days 15-28): Navigating PMS & Self-Care After ovulation, progesterone becomes the dominant hormone, preparing your uterus for a possible pregnancy. If conception doesn't happen, both estrogen and progesterone begin to drop significantly towards the end of this phase. This hormonal shift is often where PMS symptoms like moodiness and cramps begin to creep in, as the OCR highlights. I've experienced irritability, anxiety, fatigue, and intense cravings during this phase. It’s crucial to be extra kind to yourself. Understanding that these emotional fluctuations are hormonal, not personal failings, can make a huge difference. Focus on stress reduction, nourishing foods, gentle exercise, and setting boundaries. Recognizing 'moodiness and cramps begin' helps me prepare and practice more self-compassion. By truly understanding these '4 Phases of your MENSTRUAL CYCLE' and how they influence your emotions and mood, you can start to work with your body instead of against it. It's not about being controlled by your hormones, but rather using this knowledge to optimize your daily life and cultivate deeper self-awareness. Trust me, it’s a journey worth embarking on!

Thank you for educating the girls cause I try to explain that you cannot have your period while pregnant. If they understood the 4 phases of the cycle they would know it's biologically inaccurate lol it's unfortunate how many women don't know how their bodies work
