Is It Just Me or Are Pads Still Judged? 😳

I was just at Target grabbing a few feminine things and ended up in that aisle.

You know—the one where you suddenly feel like everyone’s watching what you pick. 😅

I grew up in the 90s when buying pads felt like a secret mission. You’d walk down the aisle, head down, praying you didn’t see anyone from school.

𝐓𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 “𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞.” 𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 “𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐲.” 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞.

Fast-forward to now and that quiet judgment still hasn’t gone away.  At checkout, I swear I can feel it: the eyebrow raise, the smirk, the silent “pads, really?”

And depending on the kind I grab, I already know what they’re thinking:

“Is it for your period, or because you pee when you laugh?” 🙄

Somewhere along the way, pads got labeled as “messy” and tampons as “clean,”

like there’s a right way to have your period.

𝐁𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭:

does anyone else still get the look when buying pads? Or is it just me imagining society still stuck in middle-school mode? 😂

after i had my son and the first few periods after the postpartum bleeding. I gave up on Pads and tampons and wore adult diapers😂 Because those first few periods after pregnancy can be so stinking heavy. i also wasn’t leaving my house a whole lot. However i don’t think anyone should fear about people talking about them and what they use during our time. What works for person A may not or will not work for Person B. However i keeps pads, Tampons and liners with me because i use all. But i also know someone may need one and i don’t mind giving one away

A person with long blonde hair walks away on a sidewalk, wearing a striped crop top and light pants. Text overlay asks, 'I need to know if other girls deal with this too,' reflecting a common period-related struggle.
Several reusable cloth pads with floral designs and a purple drawstring pouch are displayed on a wooden surface. Text describes the discomfort of peeing with a pad on, mentioning a 'gross warm shift' and 'damp paper towel' feeling.
A disposable sanitary pad is shown against a wooden background. Text asks, 'do you change it every single time you pee or just... deal with it?' highlighting the dilemma of managing pads during periods.
i hate peeing while wearing a pad
I’ve gone my entire life thinking I was the only one who hated this (at least to this extent). Every month it hits me again. I’ll just be minding my business, go to pee, and immediately regret existing. It’s the combination of the warmth, the stickiness, the shifting, and the whole “now this pad fe

A package highlighting pad features like hypoallergenic and fragrance-free, with an overlay expressing frustration about pads feeling damp and needing an upgrade.
What’s the most annoying thing about pads?
Pads seriously give me trust issues 😭 cause why is it that when I wear one it tends to scrunch up every time?? They I either stain my underwear or pants because it’s folded up like origami 😫😫😭. I like wearing them to bed, but It’s seriously so annoying! What's the most annoying thing about

Hot Take: Having opinions on menstrual products
I don't know about y'all but I saw this post about someone judging grown women about using pads and honestly I was gonna let it slide but it pissed me off 😤. If it bothers you that most women use pads rather than menstrual cups or tampons you should mind your business and worry about you.

Why do we keep putting up with leaks?
My mom taught me to use pads as a kid and I just accepted them until every period came with side leaks especially at night. A friend suggested tampons later, which were better but not perfect. They hurt to remove on light days and not every body tolerates them. But pads ads are a joke. They show

❓ “Which pads are actually safe
You guys so I tried a new pad last period and it was a nope from me. I woke up one morning with the skin around my thighs and vulva so red and itchy that I couldn’t sit comfortably. It looked like a rash, and I hated it. I realized the pad I used had a rough top layer, maybe fragrance or dye, and i

I used to think reusable pads were such a weird
I used to think reusable pads were such a weird concept. Like… washing that? No thanks 😭 But I finally tried them out because I was tired of spending so much on disposables every month — and honestly? Not bad at all. They’re softer, don’t have that plasticky feel, and they don’t smell weird like re

Some workplace expectations became so normalized that people stopped asking whether they actually make sense. Not every “professional standard” is healthy, productive, or necessary. Sometimes adults are expected to tolerate things that would feel unreasonable in almost any other part of life.

the honest reason why I stopped wearing tampons
never thought I’d wear pads again until this study came out this summer! according to this study, tampons contained traces of 16 metals including lead, arsenic, and cadmium. Some of them were elevated past safe levels but the brands were not disclosed! The effects of the heavy metals in the t

Do you like using Tampons?🤷🏼‍♀️❣️
The only time they even cross my mind is if I have to swim or literally have no pads. Tampons just stress me out… timing, leaks, inserting them when I’m already crampy or annoyed… it’s exhausting. Pads are simple, comfortable, and I don’t have to overthink them. I know some people swear b

my experience using tampons vs. pads
Nobody really tells you that using tampons takes strategy. I thought I could just use them whenever, but if my flow was too light? Painful. Dry. AWFUL. Over time, I learned how to actually listen to my body. I use pads during light flow days or overnight, then switch to tampons when I know they

Pads vs Tampons… I Used TWO by Accident 😭🩸
Why I Stopped Wearing Tampons 💗🩸 Okay besties… story time 😭 I honestly didn’t use tampons for long. I was a pad-only girl for YEARS because I literally didn’t know how to use a tampon properly 💀 Once I figured it out, it felt like a game changer and I actually preferred them for a while… …
