The Cog’s horn can really travel! 🚂
From Middle Sugarloaf to Marshfield Station it’s 8.4 miles. Even on a windy day, I could still make out that distinct sound of the Cog Railway, making its way to Waumbek Station, on the west side of Mt Washington. At first it was a little eerie tbh, then I realized what I was actually hearing 😮‍💨

💎 Hidden gem alert in Western Maine 🥾
Welcome to Whitecap Mountain. It’s one of those hikes with a great sweat-to-reward ratio. It’s just under 6 miles with about 1,600’ elevation gain (a moderate hike with no scrambles). The summit is wide-open too! The videos here don’t do this summit justice, the views of the White Mountains are bea

thank you for lying AllTrails ✌️
I may not have hiked this trail if AllTrails told me the real distance, and knowing the summit would likely be clouded in. But just being outside is the real reward anyway, so the lies about milage and weather, was actually welcomed today. Follow for more hiking inspiration 💙🥾 #alltrails

That’s one thing I love about hiking. It really helps put things into perspective. We often (and I’m very guilty of this 🙋‍♂️) seek pleasure and reward, yet overlook how challenge strengthens us physically, morally and mentally. After all, we don’t grow when we’re coasting, we grow when the ter
