Lazy Gym Girl: Anxiety Edition 🧘🏻‍♀️

Sometimes just thinking about working out, dealing with people or figuring out where to start can make you want to stay in your bed, but likely you can find a solution! If the gym is too much, you can find some online videos or apps to guide you ate home. My favorite YouTube channel that helps me to still be active at home is - “Move with Nichole”. Also, don’t forget that there’s no pressure, whether you want to do yoga, little dance around the room or just stretching; I just do what feels good for me in the specific situation.🧘🏻‍♀️🤸🏻🫧 #lemon8partner #anxiety #mentalhealth #support

... Read moreHey everyone! I totally get it – sometimes the thought of stepping into a gym, with all the people, machines, and unspoken rules, can feel completely overwhelming. For a long time, my gym anxiety kept me from even trying, especially as a beginner. I'd worry about looking silly, not knowing how to use equipment, or even just feeling judged in the stretching area. Those little conversations or even just the possibility of them felt like too much pressure, and it often led to me asking myself, 'Did I go to the gym today?' and the answer was usually no. But I've learned that movement doesn't have to be a source of stress. For my fellow 'lazy gym girls' or anyone feeling a bit too much pressure, finding what truly feels good is key. Instead of forcing myself into a routine I dreaded, I started exploring alternatives. Home workouts became my sanctuary. There's no commute, no waiting for machines, and absolutely no need to worry about strangers watching. You can show up exactly as you are, in your comfiest clothes, and just move. If you're wondering where to start with a 'lazy gym workout' from home, think simple. I often grab a stability ball or a couple of light weights and follow a beginner-friendly yoga flow or even a gentle Pilates session. The OCR mentioned yoga and Pilates, and honestly, they've been game-changers for my mental health. You don't need fancy equipment to begin; even bodyweight exercises can be incredibly effective. Starting small, just 10-15 minutes, is far better than doing nothing at all. Another thing that really helped me was to stop comparing myself to fitness influencers or what I saw online. For the girl who 'feels too much online,' it's easy to get overwhelmed by perfect bodies and intense routines. Instead, I focus on enjoyable activities. Maybe it's just dancing around my living room to my favorite songs, or a long, mindful stretching session to ease tension. These 'lazy' approaches to fitness still contribute to feeling stronger and calmer. The concept of a 'find what feels good app' resonated with me because it's all about listening to your body. While I haven't found one specific app with that name, many yoga or meditation apps, or even YouTube channels like 'Move with Nichole,' really embody this philosophy. They offer guidance without the pressure, allowing you to modify poses or movements to suit your energy levels. It’s about building a positive relationship with exercise, one gentle step at a time. This approach has transformed my anxiety into a motivator for self-care through movement. Remember, any movement is good movement, especially when it nurtures both your body and your mind. You've got this! ✨
