Estepona
2025/8/19 Edited to

... Read moreMy recent trip to Estepona, Spain, was an absolute delight, and a huge part of that was exploring its incredible food scene! Beyond the specific spots I’ve already mentioned, I wanted to share some broader insights and tips I picked up for anyone wondering where to eat and what to do in Estepona. It's truly a place where every meal feels like an experience, whether you're craving traditional Andalusian flavors or something more modern. When you're looking for the best restaurants in Estepona, you'll quickly realize the variety is fantastic. One of the first things to consider is the setting you're in the mood for. If you're like me and love soaking up the sun and sea breeze, then the 'chiringuitos' or beach restaurants are an absolute must. Imagine enjoying freshly grilled 'espetos' – those delicious sardines skewered and cooked over an open fire – right on the sand. It’s an iconic Estepona experience, and many of these spots offer more than just seafood, with vibrant atmospheres perfect for a long lunch. Places that capture this essence, like the one I visited near Torre Velerín, truly make you feel like you're on a Spanish vacation. Then there's the bustling Estepona port area, another prime location for fantastic dining. Here, the focus often shifts to incredibly fresh seafood. You can find everything from elegant seafood restaurants to more casual eateries where the catch of the day is proudly displayed. Walking along the marina, seeing the boats, and then sitting down to a plate of grilled prawns or a delicious paella is simply unbeatable. For those searching for Estepona port restaurants, you'll be spoiled for choice, with many offering stunning views to complement your meal. I remember being so impressed by the quality of the fish at Restaurante El Palangre, which is a great example of the fresh offerings you'll find. Don't overlook Estepona's charming old town either. While my main recommendations focused on beach and port, the narrow, flower-filled streets of the historic center hide many beautiful traditional restaurants and tapas bars. These are perfect for experiencing a more authentic, local vibe, often with quieter courtyards and classic Andalusian dishes. It’s a completely different atmosphere from the beachfront, offering a glimpse into the town's rich heritage. For those planning their trip, a couple of tips I learned: if you're visiting during peak season or want to try a particularly popular spot, making a reservation, especially for dinner, is a smart move. Also, don't hesitate to ask locals for their recommendations – they often know the best hidden gems! Reviews are helpful, of course, but sometimes the best finds come from a friendly chat. Whether you're after a sophisticated dinner or a laid-back meal after a day at the beach, Estepona's culinary scene has something for everyone. It's truly one of the best things to do in Estepona – to simply eat your way through it! I can't wait to go back and discover even more.
