Iridescent Cloud Hat Phenomenon, A Beautiful Art at Creative Nature, at Pang Sida National Park
A picture of the rainbow cloud hat phenomenon that was beautifully recorded by the Pang Sita National Park authorities, a photo taken on March 27, 2025, at 5: 20 p.m.
Rainbow clouds, called Iridescence, are caused by white sunlight falling on different sizes of water above the top of the cloud, and when the light strikes a drop of water, it causes refraction to shift away from the original alignment.
But different colors of light are unevenly refracted, causing white light to break into a rainbow, and because in faint clouds there are different sizes of water pellets, one rainbow (such as green) that is refracted from one size of water is superimposed on another rainbow (such as yellow) that comes from another size of water pellet.
So it makes the rainbow look like an intricate overlap, sometimes like a rainbow on a pearl's skin, sometimes stacked in layers.
Rainbow phenomena can occur in faint clouds in the sky without a large cloud (like a thunderstorm) involved, but the common is the rainbow over a large cloud, especially during the evening when the sun is setting the horizon...

ถ้าใครสงสัยว่า “หมวกเมฆสีรุ้ง” คืออะไร แบบเข้าใจง่าย ๆ มันคือปรากฏการณ์เมฆที่มีแถบสีรุ้งเหลือบ ๆ อยู่บริเวณ “ขอบ” หรือ “ยอด” ของเมฆ โดยมักจะโค้งเหมือนมีหมวกครอบอยู่ด้านบน เลยถูกเรียกกันว่า หมวกเมฆ (บางครั้งเจอคำว่า Iridescent pileus cloud หรือ iridescence) ซึ่งความฟินของมันคือสีจะไม่เหมือนสายรุ้งหลังฝนเสมอไป แต่จะเป็นโทนพาสเทล/เหลือบมุก ซ้อนกันหลายชั้น ดูละมุนมาก จากที่อ่านและลองสังเกตเอง หลัก ๆ เกิดจาก “แสงอาทิตย์” ไปกระทบละอองน้ำหรือผลึกน้ำแข็งเม็ดเล็ก ๆ ในเมฆบาง ๆ ทำให้แสงเกิดการเลี้ยวเบน/แยกสี (สีต่าง ๆ แยกตัวไม่เท่ากัน) เราเลยเห็นเป็นแถบสีรุ้งเหลือบซ้อนกัน โดยเฉพาะตอนเมฆมีหยดน้ำขนาดใกล้เคียงกันและเมฆค่อนข้างบาง สีจะชัดและสวยเป็นพิเศษ แล้วทำไมหลายคนเจอบ่อยช่วงเย็น? เพราะช่วงที่ดวงอาทิตย์ทำมุมต่ำ (ใกล้ตก) แสงจะเฉียง ๆ ผ่านชั้นบรรยากาศมากขึ้น ทำให้มองเห็นสีที่ขอบเมฆได้ง่ายกว่า เคล็ดลับของเราเวลา “ล่า” หมวกเมฆสีรุ้งคือ - มองหาเมฆก้อนใหญ่สีเข้ม แล้วดูเหนือยอดเมฆว่ามีเมฆบาง ๆ ปกคลุมเหมือนหมวกไหม - ถ้าเห็นขอบเมฆเริ่มมีสี ให้ยืนดูต่ออีกนิด เพราะสีอาจไล่เฉดและเปลี่ยนเร็วมาก - พยายามยืนในมุมที่ดวงอาทิตย์ไม่ได้จ้าเข้าตาโดยตรง (บังด้วยต้นไม้/สันเขา) จะสังเกตสีง่ายขึ้น ส่วนเรื่องถ่ายรูป ถ้าอยากให้สี “เด้ง” แนะนำลองแตะวัดแสงที่บริเวณเมฆสว่าง ๆ แล้วลดแสงลงนิดหนึ่ง ภาพจะเก็บแถบสีรุ้งได้ชัดกว่า และถ้ามีฉากหน้าเป็นเงาดำ (เช่น เงานกเกาะกิ่งไม้) ภาพจะยิ่งดูมีมิติแบบในหลาย ๆ ช็อตที่คนแชร์กัน อีกคำที่หลายคนค้นคู่กันคือ “ชุดไปล่องแพ” (เผื่อแวะมาเที่ยวธรรมชาติแถบนี้) เราแนะนำแนวแต่งตัวให้คล่องตัวและกันเปียกไว้ก่อน: เสื้อแห้งไว/แขนยาวบาง ๆ กันแดด, กางเกงที่แห้งไว, รองเท้าแตะรัดส้นหรือรองเท้าลุยน้ำ, หมวก+แว่นกันแดด และพกเสื้อกันฝนหรือวินด์เบรกเกอร์บาง ๆ เผื่ออากาศเย็นช่วงเย็น ๆ ริมน้ำ ถ้ามีโอกาสไปอุทยานแห่งชาติปางสีดา ลองเงยหน้ามองท้องฟ้าช่วงบ่ายแก่ถึงเย็น โดยเฉพาะวันที่มีเมฆก้อนใหญ่กับเมฆบางซ้อนกัน โอกาสเจอ “หมวกเมฆสีรุ้ง” จะสูงขึ้นแบบรู้สึกได้เลย
