WHAT I WISH I DID DIFFERENTLY MY FIRST SEMESTER

Looking back on my first semester of college, there’s so much I wish I did differently. I stressed too much about making the “right” friends, compared myself constantly, and waited too long to ask for help. It’s easy to feel like you have to figure everything out fast, but growth takes time. If you’re just starting out, give yourself grace and focus on progress—not perfection. You’re doing better than you think.

Many students underestimate the value of asking for help, whether through academic support or mental health resources. Remember, seeking assistance is a strength, not a weakness. Utilizing office hours, tutoring, or counseling services can provide the necessary support during challenging times. It's also important to balance academic commitments with self-care. Prioritizing sleep can profoundly impact both mental clarity and productivity. The notion that all-nighters are necessary is a misconception; adequate rest is fundamental to maintaining overall health and performance. Lastly, giving yourself grace during the transition to college is crucial.
