I stopped explaining myself

5/4 Edited to

... Read moreFor me, the moment I stopped explaining myself was truly liberating. I realized that constantly feeling the need to justify my actions or prove my worth was exhausting and, frankly, unnecessary. This habit often stemmed from seeking validation from people who simply didn’t value me as I deserved. It’s important to understand that access to your time, energy, and emotions is something that should be earned. When I started setting healthy boundaries, I noticed a significant decrease in my mental load and emotional overwhelm. It wasn’t just about saying no to others but also about saying yes to myself. One practical step I took was to pause and reflect before reacting or offering detailed explanations. If someone didn’t get me after what I had already shared or done, it wasn’t my responsibility to convince them further. This shift made me feel empowered and more in control of my relationships. As a mom, managing overwhelming responsibilities, this change was even more crucial. It taught me to preserve my energy for what truly matters and not to drain myself trying to prove my worth continuously. By sharing this journey, I hope others struggling with similar feelings find encouragement to prioritize their self-worth and establish boundaries that protect their peace.

Healing started when I stopped explaining.
This chapter wrecked me a little because I realized how often I apologized while still trying to protect my image. “I was wrong… BUT.” “I hurt you… BUT.” “I know I messed up… you just have to understand…” That’s not ownership. That’s damage control wearing a therapy hoodie. Silence afte

I realized that people understand exactly what they want to understand. so instead of exhausting myself with explanations, i started putting that energy into my goals, my happiness, and my own life. the right people don’t need a long explanation. the wrong people won’t accept one anyway.
