What overthinking actually was for me

Not problem-solving — just replaying the same fears on a loop. The longer I avoided the conversation, the decision, the email… the louder it got in my head. If you know, you know 🫥

... Read moreOverthinking often feels like being stuck in a loop of repetitive fears rather than actually solving the issues at hand. From my personal experience, what made a huge difference was recognizing that our minds tend to amplify fears, especially when we delay facing decisions or difficult conversations. The longer I avoided these moments, the louder the anxious thoughts became, creating a spiral that seemed impossible to break. One powerful realization is to understand that thoughts are not facts. Just because a fearful thought enters your mind doesn’t mean it reflects reality. I found it helpful to reframe my internal dialogue—not by fighting the anxiety directly but by acknowledging it calmly. For example, instead of thinking "Something is wrong with me," I would say, "I’m feeling anxious right now." This simple shift helped me create space between my emotions and my identity, reducing the intensity of mental noise. In addition, slowing down the flood of thoughts was crucial. Apps like Psyfy, designed in collaboration with psychologists, offer guided conversations that help untangle confusing thoughts. They also provide a comforting community and relaxing games that distract and soothe the mind. Using such tools made it easier to focus on the present and limit the obsessive replaying of "what if" scenarios. It’s also important to embrace that progress in managing overthinking is not linear. Some days you feel like you're taking steps forward; other days, it feels like you’re back at square one. Patience and self-compassion are key. Remember, overthinking is a common human experience, and with practice, you can learn techniques to calm your mind and regain control over your thoughts. If you find yourself stuck in endless cycles of fear and worry, try consciously slowing down your thinking process, acknowledging your feelings without judgment, and seeking supportive tools or communities. These steps helped me move from feeling overwhelmed by my thoughts to gradually gaining clarity and peace of mind.
