Don't you feel good enough about how successful you are?❓
Having an ideal is a good thing, because it helps us know which direction to go... what to do, but it can also hurt us. If we compare ourselves now to an ideal... the beautiful future will immediately become a robber of our happiness. 😈
.
There is a reason why we should not compare ourselves to ideals.
Because the ideal is the horizon we will never reach, the image we created ourselves, what our hearts wanted it to be, but it hasn't happened yet.
This, the author calls "thinking in a 🕳️ hole."
.
If we want to see our own progress and growth,
We have to compare ourselves to the past... not ideal. 🙅🏻♂️🙅♀️
.
That's easy? Yeah, that's easy.
.
If we put ourselves now against the ideal,
We will feel that we are not doing well enough.
Inadvertently, taking action makes it feel worse than doing nothing else.
(Then why do we act, right?)
.
But if we ourselves are now compared to ourselves in the past
We will see progress and growth more easily.
Every day we act is a success in itself.
.
🙋🏻♂️: Comparing ourselves today with ourselves in the past doesn't embarrass us, stop setting goals and stop trying, does it?
👨🏻🏫: No, comparing ourselves to the past will give you the fuel to be motivated to move on. The better we feel, the better the outcome of what we do. But if we compare ourselves to other people or ideal ourselves, the outcome will be the opposite.
🙋🏻♂️: So why do we like to compare ourselves to others or the ideal ourselves?
👨🏻🏫: Because nature created us like this.
🙋🏻♂️: What does that mean?
👨🏻🏫: Want to know? Let's go read...
🙋🏻♂️: How do you know?
👨🏻🏫: We can choose how to let it dictate our lives.
Or how are we gonna be you?
.
If you want to feel your success more easily, the idea of holes and hills is the answer because it is a short idea that is not difficult to understand and can be deployed. Highly ✳️
