When did your babies eye color start to change?
Most babies are born with blue eyes, African American and Asian backgrounds usually are born with brown eyes but it’s possible to have blue eyes!
I love blue eyes, just to see the colors swirling together and different tints of it are just so beautiful to me. My brown eyes seem so boring compared to my children’s eyes.
Albinism is most associated with violet colored eyes but you don’t have to have it to have that color.

💗Edit: I finally have some down time in the middle of moving so I’m hard to update the post! Eye color is hard to predict just using parent’s eye color. They are polygenic traits so multiple factors come into play. Like if grandparents passed down a recessive gene to your babies. Again, like many amazing people have said in the comments, it’s NOT just the parents so don’t be worrying about why your babies eye color doesn’t match yours or your partners. I made this post quickly and mistakenly forgot the slide about this very important information. So I’m sorry if I worried anyone!!
Moving is very hectic especially with 12 PEOPLE! But we are almost done getting everything to the new house. Luckily it’s only .4 mile away from the old house. Now to get everything together and decorate!! My plants are loving it here with a lot more sunlight and natural light in the house. It’s important to remember that eye color inheritance is polygenic, meaning it's influenced by multiple genes, including those passed down from grandparents. This complexity means you can't always predict your baby’s eye color just by looking at the parents. I learned this the hard way while moving houses and juggling family life with 12 people—eye color surprises were one of the few delightful distractions! Some babies show unique patterns like sectoral heterochromia, where parts of an iris have different colors, creating a beautiful 'slice' effect—a condition my daughter has. And while rare, violet eyes can occur even without albinism. If you’re curious about your baby's eye color progression, it’s helpful to observe photos over time and note any subtle changes. Remember that nature’s palette is wonderfully diverse, and each child’s eye color journey is unique and special.
