How did you customize your Camera Control?

Dear, SweeTees 💌

Your iPhone’s Camera Control button isn’t just for opening the camera.

It can actually launch other apps too… and once you know where the setting is, it takes about five seconds to change.

If you take photos, record videos, or use camera-based apps often, this tiny tweak can make your phone feel way faster.

Here’s what I’m showing in the video:

First, open Settings.

Then go to Camera → Camera Control.

From there you can change what the Camera Control launches.

Instead of always opening the default camera, you can choose another camera-based app that you use more often.

So now when you press the button… it opens that app instead.

Simple. Fast. Very underrated.

The Camera Control button can also do more than people realize.

Once the camera opens, you can:

• adjust exposure

• zoom in or out

• switch cameras

• change photographic styles

• adjust tone and depth

You can even lock exposure and focus by lightly pressing and holding until you see AE/AF Lock appear.

Basically… it’s a tiny physical shortcut for a bunch of camera tools.

And once you start customizing it, you’ll probably use it way more than before.

💜 Mini Must-Knows

• You can change whether Camera Control opens with one click or two in the same settings menu

• The settings overlay lets you adjust exposure, zoom, tone, and more with simple finger slides

• Turning on Lock Focus & Exposure helps prevent the camera from constantly refocusing

Little settings like this are what make an iPhone feel truly customized.

Did you already know about this setting… or did Apple hide it a little too well? 👀

Save this for your next tech reset 💜

Follow for aesthetic tech tips and iPhone tricks.

-Sincerely,

Tee 💜🫶🏽

3/14 Edited to

... Read moreWhen I first found out about customizing the Camera Control button on my iPhone, it really changed how I use my phone’s camera. Instead of double-clicking to open the default camera app every time, I set it up to launch my favorite third-party camera app, which has features I prefer for low-light and portrait shots. One of the best parts is how quickly you can switch the app it launches—just a few taps in Settings under Camera → Camera Control—and it’s immediately ready to go. I remember the first time I realized I could also change whether the button activates with one or two clicks; it made capturing spontaneous moments much simpler. Beyond launching apps, once the camera is open, I love using the built-in tools like adjusting exposure, zooming, switching between lenses, and even locking focus and exposure by holding down until AE/AF Lock appears. This prevents the camera from refocusing constantly, especially useful when taking photos of still subjects or recording videos. What’s amazing is that this tiny physical shortcut gives me quick access to photo styles and tone adjustments, which normally would take longer to find in the app itself. For someone who often shoots on the go, these small tweaks add up to a much smoother experience. If you frequently use camera-based apps or like to quickly snap photos or videos, I highly recommend exploring these Camera Control settings. Making this adjustment personalized to how you shoot can really speed up your workflow and help your iPhone feel more like it was designed just for you.
